Heres my predictions for presidential politics in the next two years:
Republicans
Sarah Palin: Will run. Campaign will lose steam during the primary debates, wont be seen as presidential enough, especially on the international scale.
Newt Gingrich: Probably the most intelligent of all the possible candidates, straight shooter, broad-based knowledge of domestic and international affairs. Opponents will leak some disparaging aspects of his personal life of years past, which wont work. He stands the second best chance to win the nomination. Would be a formidable debater who few could match up to.
Mitt Romney: Would be a deja vu rerun of 2008. Attractive, smart, but would have a hard time overcoming Mormonism for the majority of voters on a national scale.
Mike Huckabee: Likeable, affable, talented, good record as a governor. Like Palin, may have overexposed himself on the television show. People will see him as an entertainer now, not a president.
Tim Pawlenty: Makes good appearance but doesnt have national steam.
Haley Barbour: Unattractive for modern media campaigning on a national level. Southern drawl (unfortunately) would become a drawback.
John Bolton: Doesnt stand a chance.
Jeb Bush: America is not going to elect another Bush.
Bobby Jindal: Smart man. I could see him as a VP pick on someones ticket. Wouldnt win the nomination.
Donald Trump: The dark horse. Watch for Trump to trump the field if he gets going. Blunt speaking, talks about reviving national pride and international image which is lacking on all points. Could run as a non-political, successful businessman who gets the job done. If he runs, voters would turn to him like they turned to Ross Perot in 1992, only Perot ran as an Independent, while Trump would have the GOP behind him.
Democrats
Barack Obama: The Democratic Party will likely nominate the incumbent president, providing they see him as a sure winner. And, that could be a problem, particularly if the economy continues to flounder and the international scene particularly the radical Islamic issue continues to crumble. Thus, the path of Obama will likely follow the path of Jimmy Carter, a one-term president.
Another dark cloud looming, which will be more of an issue in the next election, is the perennial question of his legitimacy and the haunting secrecy surrounding his failure to release college records.
Joe Biden: He would run only if he has already ascended to the presidency if Obama fails to serve out his term. Biden is seen by both parties as a shoot-from-the-hip bloviater, and would not be elected.
Hillary Clinton: Another dark horse. Hillary is looming quietly, waiting for the right time to make a move. If Obama shows any weakness, or fails to run for any reason, shell rise to the occasion, and that would make the election a very tight race.
My money is still on Sarah, no one else is half as good. On the dem side, maybe Bo is not eligible and Hillary is in the wings, it might just have been the deal they worked out. Hillary is just as left as bo, so the leftist machine just stays on the attack against Sarah no matter what. It won’t be that long now!
“But he is not a politician...How about him and Don King for VP.”
Fine! They won’t take sh*t from the MSM, that’s for sure.
The Donald can not be trusted, and would turn out as bad or worse than the kenyan. No way Jose.
yesterday a FREEPER posted that Sarah had 78 million google hits compared to 65 million for Barry.
Compare this with 1,250,000 for Huckleberry, and 2,600,000 for Romney and 2,290,000 for Newt...
So regardless what this guy thinks... Sarah is still the one to beat...
If Hillary runs, it will likely be on the coattails of “Clinton’s economy”. Responding with “Monica” and “is” may feel good, but it won’t be enough to counter 3.5% unemployment and the balanced budget of the tech boom years. We need to have answers ready.
By the time Obluster is at the end of his term, he will have made everyone look like an expert in international affairs.
Yeah, I hear that George HW and Barbara like Texas. I hope they stay there.
I will be shocked if the GOP nominates Trump or Gingrich. Both are on their third wives.
Regardless of whether one thinks this should be a disqualifying factor, my gut tells me it is going to be.
I see a few problems with this analysis. I’m not saying this is what I want to happen but unless Jim DeMint jumps in my guess is that when its all said and done and the dust clears on the GOP nomination the last man standing will likely be Tim Pawlenty. Just a hunch. When they asked Newt to sit on that couch with Pelosi he should have just said “NO”.
Barack Obama is probably not even going to run in 2012 because 10-12 states are going have their hands out for his long form birth certificate which would appear not to exist in this universe.
Its going to be interesting thats for sure.
I've never heard a single word of them being in any kind of trouble...no small chore these days.
Or...McCain with brains.
It’s Sarah Palin or we lose.
I’m not saying that Palin guarantees a win.
I -am- saying that without Palin, we will lose.
Romney will get his head handed to him on a platter. Same for Huckabee, but he probably won’t run. Jeb Bush? Are you crazy?
Donald Trump would be a DISASTER as president. He has spent his entire life giving orders and expecting them to be followed. Do you think Obama is narcissistic and dictatorial? Just wait.
With Palin, at least we’ll have a chance.
As for what kind of chance it will become, I’ve posted this before, and I’ll post it again:
The 2012 election will go the way of either the 1964 election, or the 1980 election.
Absolutely no way to predict at this time which of the two it will end up like.
I predict Pence and Trump.
I’m with you.
Ron Paul, however, never looked better.
He has sucked up mightily!
The photo op with Newtie on the bench with Nutsy Pelousy with the accompanying story saying that both agreed with the stupid lie that is ‘Gorebal Warming’ was his swan song.
As if CFR membership somehow qualifies anyone to be president of anything.
No more damned Bushes!
I agree with you, “Howard” :-)
The PaulBots were sounding like CodePink at CPAC.
Ron Paul? No way, Jose!
if Trump runs and wins,I think he would choose Newt as the Vice. A Trump/Gingrich ticket would beat Obama to a pulp!
