Heres my predictions for presidential politics in the next two years:
Republicans
Sarah Palin: Will run. Campaign will lose steam during the primary debates, wont be seen as presidential enough, especially on the international scale.
Newt Gingrich: Probably the most intelligent of all the possible candidates, straight shooter, broad-based knowledge of domestic and international affairs. Opponents will leak some disparaging aspects of his personal life of years past, which wont work. He stands the second best chance to win the nomination. Would be a formidable debater who few could match up to.
Mitt Romney: Would be a deja vu rerun of 2008. Attractive, smart, but would have a hard time overcoming Mormonism for the majority of voters on a national scale.
Mike Huckabee: Likeable, affable, talented, good record as a governor. Like Palin, may have overexposed himself on the television show. People will see him as an entertainer now, not a president.
Tim Pawlenty: Makes good appearance but doesnt have national steam.
Haley Barbour: Unattractive for modern media campaigning on a national level. Southern drawl (unfortunately) would become a drawback.
John Bolton: Doesnt stand a chance.
Jeb Bush: America is not going to elect another Bush.
Bobby Jindal: Smart man. I could see him as a VP pick on someones ticket. Wouldnt win the nomination.
Donald Trump: The dark horse. Watch for Trump to trump the field if he gets going. Blunt speaking, talks about reviving national pride and international image which is lacking on all points. Could run as a non-political, successful businessman who gets the job done. If he runs, voters would turn to him like they turned to Ross Perot in 1992, only Perot ran as an Independent, while Trump would have the GOP behind him.
Democrats
Barack Obama: The Democratic Party will likely nominate the incumbent president, providing they see him as a sure winner. And, that could be a problem, particularly if the economy continues to flounder and the international scene particularly the radical Islamic issue continues to crumble. Thus, the path of Obama will likely follow the path of Jimmy Carter, a one-term president.
Another dark cloud looming, which will be more of an issue in the next election, is the perennial question of his legitimacy and the haunting secrecy surrounding his failure to release college records.
Joe Biden: He would run only if he has already ascended to the presidency if Obama fails to serve out his term. Biden is seen by both parties as a shoot-from-the-hip bloviater, and would not be elected.
Hillary Clinton: Another dark horse. Hillary is looming quietly, waiting for the right time to make a move. If Obama shows any weakness, or fails to run for any reason, shell rise to the occasion, and that would make the election a very tight race.
He seems to favor Trump.
If Gingrich has the second best chance, I don’t see a first best listed. He hasn’t a chance, in my opinion, pictures of him on the couch with Pelosi will be enough to sink him, if the other details are not.
No mention of Bachmann, or Jim DeMint....either one can have a huge impact on the GOP race
If the economy keeps slipping....I could see Trump running as an Independent. Unlike the Perot Myth that Liberal RINOs keep pushing....a moderate independent candidate does not take votes away from a Conservative.
The GOP needs to run a real conservative...not a liberal RINO. A RINO will get clobbered by Obama...all 57 states
Really going out on a limb with that one.
F*** it, at this point, I'd vote for Trump. He's better than any of the 2008 retreads for sure.
Marshall, you seriously think The Donald is going to be anything more than light comic relief this election? What are you smoking? ‘Cause I want some.
Maybe its time we put a businessman into office. I’m sick and tired of all these ^*$^(^_(&# lawyers,
You took the post right off my keyboard. Exactly what I was thinking. I don’t care about Mitt’s religion - I care about his liberal politics.
Yep he might be a darkhorse. I do not know too much about him. But he is not a politician. He is a real estate scammer. He has plent of dough. And he may be a Capitalist. How about him and Don King for VP.
I have to agree that our best chance today would be Newt or Trump, then again, nobody gave Reagan a chance and he ran away with it.
Dirty Hairy is a mormon. So is Booby Hatch.
Dewey Defeats Truman.
I am pretty sure he has skeletons in his closet.
I think Romney will get a lot of votes from Dems in open primary states.
That will be their version of Operation Chaos.
A Romney nomination will definitely produce a Tea Party challenger making it a 3-way race.
If Palin is the Repubican nominee, look for a Soros funded independent candidate backed by the MSM to emerge. Could that be Trump? Who knows.
Sort of a reverse Tea Party.
I dont see Baraq winning any 2-way matchup.
Not with 10% unemployment and $4 gas.
A Clintonian plurality win is his best shot.
I believe Baraq has bedrock support in the low 30 percent range from minorities, illegals, union members, and idiot libs.
My prediction; Jeb Bush will be tapped to take on the soaring campaign of Sarah Palin. The GOP elites will not stand by and let her garner the nomination. However, they all totally underestimate the drive of the grassroots tea party movement. George HW and Barbara are giving interviews and touting Jeb as the best candidate. Any thoughts?
Thirty years of law enforcement in Miami, Florida, including sixteen years working homicide, gives Marshall Frank a huge reservoir from which to draw insights into the problems facing America today. After retiring from the Miami-Dade P.D. in 1990, Frank went on to become a writer, now with eight published books, five fiction and three non-fiction. His book “ Militant Islam In America” was published after an exhaustive research study about the inroads that radicals are making within the borders of the U.S. He is currently working on a non-fiction book about the abominable criminal justice system
Well here's my prediction Frank. Don't give up your day job. Sarah Palin will be unstoppable in the primaries and Down goes Obama, Down goes Obama.
Gingrich is a brilliant guy, but he has a tendency to suck up to liberals.
Yeah, Trump the good personal friend of Bill Clinton will really go far in a Republican primary.
