I am SO waiting for Palin to come out with a public statement that sounds like it is clearly pandering to gay conservatives. The skull shrapnel on FR should be a sight to behold.

I like Sarah Palin. I do. But with a statement like this...

"I don't have a problem with different, diverse groups that are involved in political discourse, and having a convention to talk about what the answers are to their problems that face America," Palin said Wednesday on Fox News when asked about GOProud.

I think you're right. She is moving to the left socially.

So you’re saying that you do have a problem with diverse groups within the Republican party being able to speak and address issues?

That’s moving left?

I can’t imagine where on the left/right spectrum you must be... hanging off the edge at the right, I guess.

No she isn’t moving to the Left. She’s always held a more libertarian view on some of these matters. It’s just she’s been branded the ULTIMATE RIGHT WING EXTEMIST by the media so people unaware of her record prior to selection as McCain’s VEEP mate are surprised. It’s one of the reasons she’s never been fully embraced by the social conservative wing and why they have always favored Huckabee. Although I don’t know if his view is substantially different then hers, he does talk a better social conservative game.

It doesn’t affect my view of her since I knew this about her previously. Just as I knew her position on drugs. My issue with her statement is that CPAC should be a debating club with conservatives okay with entering hostile territory. I thought it was to be a likeminded re-affirmation of conservative values. She is 100% wrong on what it’s intended purpose was to be. That’s okay though, Keene has been running into the ground for several years and the exodus of conservative groups from the forum will evnentually collapse it’s import.

I think Palin, coming from a free-for-all charismatic/evangelical background is not a natural conservative, rather she’s a religious one. This is why some conservatives have for years been suspicious of the religious right...as they seem prone to revert to liberal positions, in the name of Jesus...

Some coming from that camp (like Jim Baker’s son) have reacted against (perceived) gay bashing, to “reach out” to the poor rejected homosexual...and confused personal compassion (which is all well and good) for a public-policy stance, which must be firmly against “gay rights” if religious liberty is to be maintained as a fundamental right.

George W. Bush is certainly an evangelical...but no one said he was a wise one....or a Conservative (on issues other than pro-life). Palin is certainly even more of an evangelical, but also not necessarily very wise....(look at her kids...), however, she is interested in small government—but may be being influenced by libertarian libertinism....(amoralism)...which is a shame.

I think she’s been on the speaking tour too long. She should go home, and go to church...and learn a few (more) things.

I am a Christian who is commanded to love all people including homosexuals. I love them enough to recognize the truth that they are destroying themselves and society by their personal and political agendas aimed at destroying the traditional family unit. Their lifestyle leads to disease and violence, job loss, more government intervention etc.. If you don’t believe it, just sit and think a while about the strength of the traditional intact extended family and how it is a very strong economic bulwark that passes on moral values and provides for its own without government intervention.

So, Mrs Palin, sodomy is still against the law in a lot of places. These people are outlaws. Their lifestyle does not need to be accepted, tolerated or legitimized in any way. They are hurting this country in a profound way. On a personal, individual level, we Christians will pray for and serve them, but on a public and political level their agenda and lifestyle needs to be condemned!

So don’t give me this, “What two people do in the privacy of their bedroom is no concern of mine” copout. They have made it everybody’s business! They are flashing it in our faces and demanding acceptance. The media have aided them in creating the mythical homosexual superhero individuals and couples who are wiser, kinder, and superior in every way to us knuckle-dragging traditional family folks.

I do like Sarah Palin, but I still long for someone who understands these things.

I think you're right. She is moving to the left socially.

And, that means she is toast in a Republican primary. Keeping social conservatives as her base was necessary for her to win a primary.

She will have to at least act like she is magnanimous to different groups while not embracing their agenda if she wishes to get elected...and she is running..no doubt. It's a perfect storm for her with Obama's economy. She should focus on economy and debt and some failures in foreign policy if it's still an issue then.

Folks know that aside from that irritating girl power stuff she is as socially conservative as anyone. But the big ticket is abortion..and I think it is obvious where she is on that.

MY problem with GOProud is my suspicion that most of them voted for Obama. They are homosexuals, first and foemost. AND, I believe that many within the group are infiltrators trying to create a rift between conservatives and GOP candidates. If they wish to come to discuss tax cuts and foreign policy, I have no problem. Somehow, I doubt that that’s their agenda, however. Bob
