Glenn Beck is "marginalizing" himself with conspiracy talk about Egypt's anti-Mubarak protests and evoking memories of the John Birch Society's Communist-conspiracy talk of the 1960's, leading conservative pundit William Kristol wrote over the weekend.
The Fox News pundit hit back on his Monday radio show, saying that Kristol is abandoning conservatives and fails to fathom an unholy alliance between Islamic activists and socialists.
"I don't even know if you understand what conservatives are anymore, Billy," Beck said. "People like Bill Kristol, I don't think they stand for anything anymore. All they stand for is power. They'll do anything to keep their little fiefdom together, and they'll do anything to keep the Republican power entrenched."
Beck broadened his accusation, saying that Kristol does not understand that "we are fighting the forces of evil on this planet."
Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, wrote over the weekend that "hysteria is not a sign of health," and added:
"When Glenn Beck rants about the caliphate taking over the Middle East from Morocco to the Philippines, and lists (invents?) the connections between caliphate-promoters and the American left, he brings to mind no one so much as Robert Welch and the John Birch Society. He's marginalizing himself, just as his predecessors did back in the early 1960's."

Really The Weekly Standard is pretty pathetic these days all around. Steve Hayes is a Romney guy,Fred Barnes is all over the place.
BILL K is always wanting to praise Barry at the wrong time I also notice.
But I am disappointed because he at one point HE spoke as if he was on “OUR SIDE”
On MSNBC this morning, so that kinda puts it in perspective
Well put, I couldn't agree with you more.
Again the speaker becomes the issue not what is spoken. Where are the substantive counter arguments to what Beck is saying? We know Beck can sound a bit nutty, already!
A lot of us remember the 1950s and wonder where were the counter arguments to what Senator McCarthy was saying.
We see now 50-60 years later that much of what the Senator was saying was TRUE. That's why there were few substantive arguments against McCarthy -- the Left had to make McCarthy the issue and given his personality and foibles it was an easy thing to do that and destroy him.
It's the same "make the speaker the issue" trick that the CP/USA and the liberals back then used, many of whom are now "neo-cons" having been labeled as such by their progressive friends and who were chased out of the Democratic Party.
Frankly I wish the "neo-cons" would reclaim their Democratic Party from the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus/street revolutionary rabble and return it to it's rightful status as a traditional patriotic political party. (That ain't name calling, that's what the 1960s New Left was/is.)
Rumsfeld called Rush today and confirmed Glenn’s perspective on this issue and added that Americans basically don’t want to confront the issue on just how violent these Islamists are.
No conservatives need apply.
Beck can’t be a RINO. He isn’t a republican...he is a libertarian.
As far as his situation with BOR...I think that’s just smart business on the part of Beck.
Well said.
Kristol is a neocon
It was only a rhetorical question.
Glenn Beck backs up his points with multiple first hand evidence.
Well Since beck started his tv show he has been claiming to be Libertarian. I figure he must be like Savage, unhappy with some people who hijacked the conservative movement so he wants to distance himself from it.
Of note, some guy called into Savage Nation yesterday claiming that Since Glenn Beck came around Bill O has started acting moderate to gain attention and fame and has let Glenn Beck take a harder Conservative view point. So there by Bill can start acting like a Rino and pretend he is fair minded.
The radio guys feud within themselves so that is what happens. Well some of them. Others like Neal Bortz and Rusty Humphries and Roger Hedgecock so un-touched along with Rush Limbaugh. It is basically all those competing for second and third place who beat each other up from time to time along with shots at Sean Hannity in second and Bill O’ who left radio because he has a high rated show. it seems to me though they ignore Laura Ingraham on purpose.
I've read two books published by the JBS. One about the NWO was partially correct. Another about the UN's gun grabbing initiatives was mostly correct. My two cents.
Facts are the enemy of the Left and the Elite.
Beck is TPTB enemy #1.
LOL! Two RINOs. Kristol is a joke and Beck is a pal of Obama lover OReilly.
NWO? With friends like you, Beck doesn’t need enemies.
but I was alive then and my dad and grandfather were movement sympathetic and somewhat involved
MLK was no conservative...not even close...a socialist who aped nearly everything we today deplore except for some cool speeches much of which was lifted...I'm sorry..there are black heroes to be found elsewhere if one must..Beck is not the only one who trumpets the myth
To treat Teddy Roosevelt out of context as a pariah of history is never going to settle with me. Sorry Glenn.
that's just starters..
I already knew all the progressive crap he touts like he just uncovered for his often rapt audience..
I love some freepers here who admire Beck but to me he has an Oprah quality for the right leaning masses that I just can't stomach
Beck is right over half the time but he is just plain wacky.
He is another one of these sorts..who claims not to be a party man but tries to paint a picture that good stops where the GOP ends and that it has always been some straight line from the beginning.
I got news for him...there was a time the only social conservatives in America were Goldwater, Magnus, Buckley, Birchers ..a few other lesser known GOP and Dixiecrats. That was it.
History is not a big sound bite or platitude easily defined by party even if our side has more often than not been identified with the GOP.
Democrats actually have a substantially stronger claim to Thomas Jefferson than do we...are we gonna throw him under the bus with Teddy...our wayward Republican?
Not me...after Washington he is number two for me.
Tell me a bit more about this “Rural Organizing Project” by Code Pink in Oregon...
The rural organizing project seems to be run by some of the same folks who run code pink. One more far left group working to manipulate the population. It looks like they’re only in Oregon but I doubt they intend to stay there.
You don't think that Beck steps on the toes of the establishment and NWO types, or you don't think there is a NWO?
Do you believe that conservatism, corporatism, establishment, and globalism are basically one and the same. I don't but I think the powers that be would like to play it that way.
