A jury in western New York deliberated for only an hour on Monday before finding a local television producer, who ran a cable studio designed to promote understanding of Muslim culture, guilty of beheading his wife. Muzzammil Hassan used two hunting knives to kill Aasiya Hassan on Feb 12, 2009, prosecutors said, six days after she had filed for divorce after nine years of marriage.
Hassan claimed during the trial, which included 13 days of testimony, that he was a battered spouse in fear for his own life.
The jury...returned the guilty verdict an hour later. Hassan was found guilty of second-degree murder.

Second degree murder. And not a mention in the headline of the "culture" that would lead him to think cutting off his wife's head was a good idea. SHE DID NOT GET JUSTICE. After he has served his prison sentence he should be SENT BACK TO PAKISTAN.

And just why did I know what kind of name to expect immediately after reading the headline?

The Pakistani Muslim, Muzzammil Hassan, will have his prison Imam issue a fatwa on all the jurors who convicted him. The Imam with command other Muslims to kill the infidels who have dared to question the will of Allah.

His life work: He “who ran a cable studio designed to promote understanding of Muslim culture..”
He lived his work; the way he killed his wife has furthered our understanding.

You always know there's a "Western New Yorker" behind it when there's an honor killing/beheading in the news...it's part of the Western New Yorker cultural heritage.
Well, at least we've been assured by the Pres__ent that "We are not, nor ever will be, at war with Western New York"...
Today is a good day to die.
I didn't say for whom.

They had to elect a foreman -- that might take 10-15 minutes if they're feeling cranky.
They also probably had to read a fairly lengthy jury form with lesser-included offenses and all sorts of junk on it.
Add that to going around the room to let everybody have their say, you're talking about an hour even if everybody's mind is already made up.
And they may have sat around to get the time up to an hour just to avoid having the judge think they didn't deliberate.
One hour on a murder case is unbelievably fast.
What I want to know is, what's with the SECOND DEGREE?

As to the 2nd degree charge, what do you expect from a New York jury?
