Rasmussen: Romney leads Obama, Huckabee even, in early 2012 survey (Palin tanking)
Wash Examiner ^ | 2/6/11 | Mark Tapscott

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads President Obama by two points, 44-42 percent, in the latest Rasmussen Reports national survey of voter preference for the 2012 presidential campaign. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is in a dead heat with Obama, with both drawing 43 percent.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin trails Obama by 11 points, while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is behind the Democratic incumbent by eight and Rep. Ron Paul, R-TX, by nine points.

As he should, Scott Rasmussen offers some important qualifiers about these results: "Seven lesser-known candidates trail by anywhere from 10 to 17 percentage points." Rasmussen added that:

"However, the most significant finding is that regardless of what GOP candidate is named, the president earns between 42% and 49%. This suggests the campaign is starting off in a fairly competitive environment, though much can change in the next year-and-a-half.

Wait to see what the MSM does to Bachmann and DeMint after they get done with Palin. They’re easy targets compared to Palin. Let’s see....MSM will say “right-wing radicals...stupid...racists...Bachmann is the second coming of Palin. DeMint is 2012’s version of Barry Goldwater”

Pissant - I guess you never learned Reagan’s llth commandment.

It is a blatant attempt by the MSM to select the GOP candidate for us by beating the “hate Palin” drum like they beat the “hate Bush” drum for 8 years.

I think conservatives need to be honest with themselves and realize that in 2012 it could be a repeat of 2008 - democrats will cross over and elect our nominee. So, if it is Romney then hopefully someone, Bachman or Palin, will be on the ballot as the Conservative Party candidate.

Repeat, I will not vote for Romney - it would be better long term to build up our numbers in the Senate and House which is what 4 more years of Obama will most likely cause.

I’ve said all along that Palin’s story has already been written and etched by the MSM on the majority of American’s minds. At this point their minds are made up (either pro or con) where Palin is concerned. She can’t/won’t get enough press or exposure (the good kind) to change people’s minds...at least not a short 4 years after the last election.

Sure they’ll attack any candidate the GOP puts forward, but they’ll be starting from scratch, so to speak, especially if it’s a “fresh face.” I’m not a Huckabee or Romney fan, no more “retreads.” I’d like to see Haley Barbour run, I’d even be okay with Christie, especially since he cancelled Planned Parenthood funding. Watching Christie and the press coverage during a Presidential campaign would be a hoot. I know he says he won’t run, but I can still wonder what debates or press conferences with a Christie like personality would be. That’s what I’m hoping for someone who handles the press with aplomb.

Most likely but even if not its great news for Palin after 2 years of non stop negative attacks and Mitt is only 6pts better than Palin? If the poll is taken on its face it is still a great result.

I suspect you are right but even the Rasmussen people can not discount the deep deep wide support of Gov Palin. This means the entire “electability” crap meme is a non starter in the primary.

"It shows Palin in a very good position."

HERETIC!!!!

Any poll showing Palin with less than a 90% to 10% lead is automatically known to be a commie plant.

Begone with you!!!!

Polls for Palin taken in the middle of the blood libel are meaningless. Really though, even with that in mind she’s not doing badly at all for someone so maligned by the media. I think Sarah has the nest shot at winning the nomination, we’ll see what happens if she runs.
Palin 2012.

The cannot put RINO (CPAC-loving RINO,
antiSemite-loving RINO, illegal alien-loving RINO) Bachmann
up against the Ultimate Queen of RINOs Mitt Romney.

Wouldn’t be fair. Wouldn’t be prudent. You betcha.

I’m sure that Romney is paying for these polls, which is why a (fairly) reliable pollster is putting out this push poll. Garbage in, garbage out.

Rassmussen polled what Romney wanted him to, no more. So it’s trust but verify with all Rassmussen polls from now on.

Absolutely. NO MORE RINOS.

If Romney is the GOP candidate,
ALL CONSERVATIVES WILL WORK AGAINST HIM.

Romney supports illegal aliens, CAIR, CPAC, Ikhwan,
the 911 Victory Mosque (heck he made money off of it),
TARP, AIG, Sharia, SOROS, and ObamaCARE.

We will work against Romney if he is the GOP candidate.

"(The GroundZero Mosque) cleared its final hurdle ….
developers plan to build the $100 million center which will include a mosque.
Since its incipient stages in July 2009, when a Muslim-run real-estate development
company purchased the damaged, vacant building and land where the new center
will be built, the project has sparked controversy and debate.
.... the tattered building that was bought by the Muslim real estate company had
been owned by a subsidiary of Bain Capital, a company Romney founded in 1984.

So it’s OK if his company can profit off the sale of the land ."

“Bain Capital, has cut checks totaling $90,000 to Romney’s operation. “

I had no idea anybody had even declared yet.

They all seem to be waiting to see what Sarah is going to do.
