DENVER -- A Centennial-based organization has canceled an up coming charity event featuring Sarah Palin, citing safety concerns.
The Sharon K Pacheco Foundation announced Saturday that the 2011 Patriots & Warriors Charity Gala scheduled for May 2 would not be held.
"Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns," said the Foundation's Director.

Don’t confuse the hellhole known as Denver with the rest of the state.
There’s a reason all of the family type Christian organizations are located in Colorado Springs, and not in Denver.
Colorado Springs, and most of the rest of the state is very friendly to Christian conservatives.
I'm just saying that their explanation sounds contrived. The real reason for the cancellation is that they seem to be unable to sell tickets.
If anything look at the date and understand what else is on that date for your answer.
... May 2 is a big day, for some reason?
I think there is more here than meets the eye. I went on this foundations web page and found some interesting tidbits. Tickets for this event (the first annual gala) went on January 17th at $185. On January 30th they dropped the price by $15, and earlier this week the ticket price was dropped again by 50%. It would not surprise me to learn that ticket sales were so poor they couldnt afford Palins fees, so this story was concocted so both Palin and this foundation could save face. Im a cynic, so flame away...”
The event is not until May. You have plenty of time to sell tickets.
They backed down with three months to go before the event? I thought they just announced that Palin would be the speaker a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like they need to stiffen their spines.

They may not have sold enough tickets in time to make the deposits required for events of this nature...something is definitely odd...
Sarah will decide when and if she’s running, not the left or NBC.
And yet they were selling at half-price after only a month....
I think Mr. Pacheco understood that he wasn't going to cover costs on this event. Palin's speaking fees apparently run to the many thousands....
Okay I’ll flame - from what I had read Palin was donating her time as a fundraiser... your blaming it on her fees is ludicrous.
They were short term promotional prices. They obviously didn’t have their act together. Palin is an almost guaranteed sell-out for a fundraiser-especially one for veterans. There was no need to discount (even for a day or two to goose sales.)
BS
I’m not buying it. Sounds too political. Sarah Palin has never backed down and you know that better than a lot of here.
I wish I could recall it, but I can’t right now.
I have doubts about this poll. I have question about who were the 1,014 respondents CNN was able to contact and the nature of the survey questions. I know very well the Lamestream Media will use the survey tactic to attack the spokespersons of conservative movement. I also know that too large a segment of the American electorate does not pay attention and will swallow anything that looks like Kool Aid from the Lamestream Media.
Perhaps they really did get threats. Threats that made security too expensive.
Tickets weren’t selling, so maybe they didn’t sell because people were concerned for their own safety.
What poll?
Rush has 20,000,000.
You do the math.
O do find it interesting that you are doing backflips to place the blame on anybody and everybody but the left. Are they your best buds or something. Hey if you want to be the waterboy for the left’s brownshirts knock yourself out.
So the thugs take away the people’s freedom to assemble once again.
The people who made the threats are low-lifes. I hope Karma catches up with them.
