Rasmussen: Bounce gone, strong disapproval back to 40%
Hot Air ^ | February 05, 2011 | ED MORRISSEY

After the Tucson shooting and Barack Obama’s speech to the nation, polling showed a bounce in his approval ratings — unlinked, however, to any improvement on the issues. Voters appeared to remain opposed to Obama’s previous performance on jobs, the economy, and the deficit, but willing to give the President a chance to make good on his promises to reach across the aisle to newly-resurgent Republicans to chart a new course. According to the last several days of Rasmussen’s tracking poll, that window of opportunity looks like it’s closing fast:

Why are people so easily swayed because of few lousy speeches? SOTU ducked all the major issues of the day and focused on foolishly impractical energy sources and fast trains. Why are people fooled by his crap?

I've often wondered the same thing. Who are my fellow citizens? But just think of the people around you. Are they the people you would want to go to war with? To fix your car? To care for your children? Me either. I despair for the average person in America.

Many people sadly don't know what to think, so they let the MSM do their thinking for them. If NBC says he gave a great speech, they think he gave a great speech. And they think it makes a difference, for some reason.

Because deep down, everyone wants to Win The Future (WTF).

Wait... Win The Future... WTF does that even mean? It's almost like people don't even listen to the words he's speaking, and instead just listen to the cadence of his voice.

"I can't wait to WTF!"

"How many points does it take to WTF?"

"What do I actually ... win... when I Win The Future? Cash? Fame? A lifetime supply of unicorn meat? WTF is Obama even referencing, here?"

Sounds like a lottery or something.

Yeah, that’s it! The “Republic’s Official Federal Lottery”!

Heads are going to roll in this admin - you have a Congresswoman getting shot and almost killed, and only a 10 point bump. FAILURE!!!

I still find it hard to believe that he was actually elected. How anyone can sway with the wind as reflected by Obama’s disapproval ratings is beyond me. It’s a sad statement on the average person’s core values.

Win The Future (WTF).

This Bozo has given his people a simple instruction: Find something I can say that is memorable. Find it now!

Can't you see him standing in front of a full length mirror every night trying on something...anything...remotely Presdidential?

"Four score and seven years ago...no...no...that won't work...

"Ask not what your country can do for you...no...no...that doesn't even fit anything I want...

"We have nothing to fear but fear itself...no...no...I fear the future...

"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!...hey, maybe we're getting warmer...that even sounds like me!"

What kind of a nitwit is this guy?

Why are people fooled by his crap?

Because 35% of American IQs peak in the mid 70's.

We've got a diversified nation of one third slaves, morons, and illiterates, and ~10% pure evil demons walking around wearing human skins.

Today is a good day to die.
I didn't say for whom.

I’m waiting for him to get back to the 47% strong disapprove rating he had in September, with an Abyss Rating of -5.

Why was there a “bounce” anyway? Do people think highly of capitalizing on pain and death to make a cheap political point? Or maybe it was all the teeshirts...

He won because many millions of us sat out the election (I did Not),The reason McQueeg got any votes is because of Governor Palin ,Nov 2 2010 people were awake and 2012 the Job will continue rescuing our country.

I thought his visit to Tucson was absolutely disgusting. Making a so-called “memorial service” into a campaign rally, complete with T-shirts.

Why that made his numbers go up I will never understand.

Tucson was supposed to be Obama’s “Oklahoma City” moment, referring to how Bill Clinton became more popular after the Oklahoma City bombing. But it appears that it didn’t work out that way. The liberals have to be disappointed in that.

The Tucson thing reminded me a bit of the Wellstone memorial, which morphed into a political rally. The Tucson thing also seemed more like politics than a somber memorial to people who died.

I think that, among most people, there's a real (and justified) disgust with the sharply partisan politics of today; there's a hunger for responsible statesmanship.

So when they hear some politician decrying the same thing, they lap it up. I know a lot of people who were impressed by that aspect of the SOTU.

And a lot of people still want to believe in Obama, too -- it's the dying flicker of hope over reality.

He's not worth the adulation, of course, and people remember that he's not, when they see him screwing up badly about Egypt.
