(CBS/AP) PARIS - Al-Jazeera's offices in Cairo were stormed and torched and its Website hacked Friday, says the Pan-Arab broadcaster, while the top U.N. human rights official complained that media covering Egyptian pro-democracy protests are being arrested "in a blatant attempt to stifle news."
Qatar-based Al-Jazeera - widely watched in the Middle East - portrayed the attack on its office as an attempt by Egypt's regime or its supporters to hinder its coverage of the uprising in Egypt. Al-Jazeera said the office was burned along with the equipment inside it.

Finally. Someone somewhere finally giving journalists what they deserve.
The headline made me smile.
Now reporters can get a glimpse of the future if they push the US to civil war.
Insurance scam ?
There are no unbiased media outlets.
“Journalists” ARE combatants when they cover stories with propaganda.
I am not condoning or encouraging violence. let me be clear.
But if someone beats the BRD out of Shep Smith on camera I will watch it everyday on Youtube for a long time.
:p
Man, I hate to say it but that is my immediate reaction too.
And I used to work for newspapers.
The contempt they hold us in and serve up on a daily basis-—often without even an inkling of just how offensive it is-—will be turned back upon them, in loss of business, loss of respect, even an absence of reasonable compassion.
They are tasting their just desserts.
Maybe just maybe they are onto the FACT that the journalists are trying to stir things up, on the side of the rioters, wanting Mubarak out — and are IDIOTS and know not of what they speak.
Not safe to lie everywhere — we know how to blow them off, but the Egyptians just don’t seem to LIKE them.
If the UN is uptight, it helps clarify the situation even more.
Too long for my .sig.
Pity.
I can’t stand to watch the news anymore.
I’m no English major, so I don’t really care about my syntax, composition, grammar, etc. all the time and I do errors, hillbilly, ebonic, whatever, when I feel like it.
But there is a LOT of crap out there.
I suppose if you can’t pass the fourth grade you can become a journalist.
No offense.
I had a paper route when i was a kid
Al Jazeera as well as Obama are pushing for the Muslim Brotherhood to take over Egypt.
Obama is a traitor to the US.
What a shame!
Freepers predicted that journalists were going to catch it
because they wre going to Cairo NOT to reprt the news, BUT to carry Obama’s water, as they have at home.
That point was made in several interviews tha John Bachelor had on his live radio show on Thursday evening. He was telling them that hey, there is NO news to cover in Cairo (you are there to create propaganda in Cairo, and unlike in the USA, that can get you killed in Cairo).JUST GET OUT ( Do not be used by Obama , its not worth your life.)
Obama is puffing on the news...do this , do that..Do not attack protesters, do not attack the press..Mubarak can easily take care of this “protest”. If Mubarak wants it to go away, he just has to send in the army.Mubarak is playing Obama like a fish, just sitting back watching. They can only jump up and down and act like idiots for only so long.
Mubarak is waiting for the revolutionaries to turn violent or go away. If the revolutionaries turn violent, then they will be utterly destroyed. This is why Obama is so desperate, the revolutionaries WILL become violent eventually. Let them.
Buahahahahahahaha!
Play him like fish Honsni, Israel and the whole of Europe support you.
Me too dude.
I sold Grit, do you remember that?
I worked for daily papers later on when I went to college and temporarily...lost my grit.
Stay Mubarak!
Don’t let anyone or anything force you out of office against your will or against your better judgment.
Mubarak should do what he thinks is right not what he is forced to do.
How about:
There are no unbiased media outlets, Journalists ARE combatants.
No, you’re absolutely right.
It’s after you do some learnin’ that you get the hell OUT of journalism....
Truth is I liked to write but couldn’t stomach the phony pose that I was some sort of standard that “ordinary” citizens were supposed to answer to. I ended up drifting toward doing only feature stories on people who did work I admired, or had written books I admired, or knew stuff about hunting and fishing that I wanted to learn.
Finally I just left the biz altogether...mister, the atmosphere in a newsroom is even more poisonously leftist than it seems on the page or on the air.
p.s. You “do ebonic”-—heheh...I’d like to see that...
