ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Sarah Palin is trying to trademark her name.
The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate filed paperwork with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in November to register the trademark.
The federal office is seeking more information and examples of usage. Palin’s attorney said Friday that they have until late spring to provide that information.

As well as using her as propaganda, etc. I think she is well ahead of anyone on our side.....which gives me hope that she will run in 2012.
In my dreams, she is setting herself up for some protection when she finally does announce. Again, my dream, but this kind of gives me a "wink wink" into her planned future (again, my dream).

Bristol, why does she need to trademark her name? She has done nothing special other than get preggers out of wedlock.
You can’t be serious. Satire is protected and unaffected by trademarks. SNL will continue to chug along mockingly with or without trademarks. A great many hollywood names have been trademarked, but that does NOT insulate them from satire or mockery.

Good mercy, with the multitude of unplanned pregnancies in this country, she, at least, had the heart and decency to give birth instead of aborting & now calls her son a blessing.

for instance Palin2012 may well be taken by a cybersquatter with a trademark Gov Palin can quickly assume the domain on hundreds like it.
this protects her form extortion, enables her to quickly ramp up a massive online campaign, and protects her from sites using her name to redirect voters to say Obama2012 websites.
Reagan did not have to worry about any of that. In fact no candidates did. Obama/McCain where the first ones where the problems began to be shown. Sen Obama forcefully took over a fansite on either myspace or facebook and it caused negative press when he did so.
Politics in the Internet age is very different than pre Internet. A trademark is a needed thing.
But I bet haters never even thought of that angle.

Is the truth now considered hateful? Is getting preggers out of wedlock supposed to make a person star status? I don’t fault her for making a mistake. I also don’t think she is deserving of all the praise. She has had it great where other girls who made the same mistake have suffered.

Her boy is adorable, his father is an ass. Both Levi and Bristol have tried to gain fame off of Bristol’s mother. I find that kind of sickening. You have to admit that Bristol would not be doing this if it weren’t for her Mom and who she is.
Bristol did work hard on DWTS. I give her that, thing is, she would never be known if she had not gotten preggers and Palin was not her mother. She would be like Willow. Pretty much unknown.
