“Pitbulls are ALL EVIL” /s
I appreciate your sarcasm. I have a pit cross that I got from a shelter abhout 6 1/2 years ago. She doesn’t know she is a dog, just a short person with a funny looking fur coat. She is absolutely the best dog I have ever owned and I would not hesitate to have another one. I have never seen her aggressive/protective side and don’t want to. She could be a formidable foe for someone if the situation dictated it. 60 pounds of muscle....red

I have no personal experience with owning a pit bull, but one of my neighbors had one. He was one of the nicest dogs I have ever met.
It’s my opinion that a dog is ultimately only as good or bad as its owner.

I have a couple cross pits too. (didn’t know it when I got them) Both are wonderful with the grand kids and other pets. Now, the wild pigs, raccoons and coyotes haven’t found them too friendly. :)

Exactly right...a dog is a reflection of it's upbringing and environment. The breed doesn't matter.

Wow. I was away. Didn’t know. I was wondering why there weren’t many dog attack threads. Guess I know now.

Not surprising really. Pit Bulls are VERY defensive of their owners, and he must have identified with the lady and her kid as his family, what with him getting into the car even.
Pits (and other bull breeds) can make excellent dogs, but you DO have to make sure they are raised right. You need a strict and steady hand, and make sure you socialize them around other people.
An unknown Pit scares the h*ll out of me, because more often than not, they are not optimally raised and trained, unfortunately. But ones that I know are wonderful dogs.

I confess that I made a friend of someone I really didn’t speak to in h.s. because I emailed him about his adorable pit bull. Now, mine? She’s loveable, great with the kids, and a pain in the ass. She likes jumping through windows. Cost a pretty penny in vet bills to sew up her arm, because she wanted to see the poodle walking down the street. Then, she ran a block on her bad foreleg.
