Gangs Hunt Journalists and Rights Workers (Carnival of MSM's Cairo Related Injuries)
New York Times ^ | DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and J. DAVID GOODMAN

CAIRO — Security forces and gangs chanting in favor of the Egyptian government hunted down journalists at their offices and in the hotels where many had taken refuge on Thursday in a widespread and overt campaign of intimidation aimed at suppressing reports from the capital.

By evening, it appeared that none of the major broadcasters were able to provide live footage of Tahrir Square, the epicenter of antigovernment protests. Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya television networks said their journalists had been hounded from the street and from the vantage points above the square where cameras had been placed, and both CNN and BBC appeared to be relying only on taped footage of the square. Jon Williams of the BBC said via Twitter that Egyptian security had seized the news agency’s equipment from the Cairo Hilton “in an attempt to stop us broadcasting.”

The Egyptian state news agency had earlier asked foreign reporters and crews to move out of all the hotels near the square.

The Committee to Protect Journalists was investigating at least two dozen cases of reporters being detained. According to the group, the government told the journalists that they were not being arrested, but rather were being taken into “protective custody.”

Some journalists were attacked so viciously that they required hospitalization. The Fox News Channel said Thursday that two employees, correspondent Greg Palkot and cameraman Olaf Wiig, had been “severely beaten” on Wednesday. The two men spent a night in the hospital and were released Thursday, but had yet to appear on television.

A reporter for Al Arabiya was beaten by a group of pro-Mubarak demonstrators on Wednesday. His injuries were significant enough that he remains hospitalized, though his condition is not critical, Nakhle El Hage, director of news for the network said.

After yesterday's events I've had to redefine the way I've been feeling about the demonstrations going on in Egypt only to say, open-hunt season on the journalists (American or otherwise, does have its merits.

This article, hope I won't regret saying, is a fun read, a sort of 'Carnival of The MSM maimed, Injured, Otherwise Set Upon' I've often dreamed of, just only to wipe the smug, pompous, self-aggrandizing smirk off of the collective of MSM, now severely unrecognizably, pummeled head.

One of the reasons the MSM had no compunction about going straight into the eye of the storm was that they felt they were invincible as God's soldiers so very heroically putting themselves in danger in the holy, hallowed name of journalism as extension of flag,Mom, apple pie, that they were there as sacred duty, in service to some "higher calling", essentially covering the event in celebration, re-affirming of themselves. as if to say, Hey,All You On the MSM Dinosaur Death Watch, we count, we matter. we're very much alive,we're here and e're queer. They actually believe they would not suffer harm because "hey, we're on a sacred mission, that no one would hurt them because they were on and the same with the demonstrators the awe in which the MSM actually believed people had of them but only to have them beaten to within an inch of their very lives, more disillusioned than ever.

My only regret is that some of the very worst MSM offenders weren't there to feel the wrath they deserve, any, all reporters from the New York Times, ahhhh the MSM fantasy of my life Keith Olbermann Reporting Live From Cairo last but not least, one of MSM's favorite bastard sons of all, the man behinf the microphone, the camera fixed on his face, ready to record the first words out of his mouth for all posterity;
What's The Frequency, Kenneth??

It’s high time these morons learned there’s things more hurtful than being unfriended on Facebook.

I am SHOCKED! You mean to tell me that some people don’t recognize the superiority of American journalists!?!? How dare they challenge the American Elite!

I have no hope that journalists will learn anything from this. It’s only a matter of time before they come home and spin this into a “blame-the-Tea-Party” meme.

Perhaps if this happened more often the “journalists” would be less hesitant to whip up a riot in order to boot ratings. Up until now they didn't seem to care about the body count, except to hype their reports. Now that it is their bodies being counted suddenly they are concerned about inciting violence.

You mean to tell me that some people don’t recognize the superiority of Obama, the community organizer/armchair revolutionary, and his efforts to destabilize the Middle East in favor of Islamists!?!?

I wonder if these gangs have jackets embroidered with “Pro-Government Supporter” on the back. In satin maybe?

Now is the time for all our journOlistas to return from the war zone.

I will never forgive the murder of Daniel Pearl and I couldn’t ever ever wish for such a fate to befall any of our anti American journOlistas.

Time to bring them home, the walking wounded, and the useful idiots, all.

Wow. Finally there’s a cost associated with bringing your own opinion into your reporting. Bravo Egyptians. These “journalists” do have an agenda and that does make them less than fair arbiters of the news. Bravo. Give em hell until they learn to be fair and balanced.

Knowing as I do the disservice these “journalists” have done to the United States. I have to say I feel the same way. Only because I feel they have done it with malice. They are so arrogant they thought they could waltz in to Cairo and just play their same old game they get away with here. I do hope the Muzzies cut them down to size.

The vast majority of these journalists/propagandists are liars and I bet many of these attacks were staged.

Journalists? They must be referring to the morons with cameras that push the Obama agenda?

The American media do not report anything, they show pictures then slant the “news”. They have been able to do this at will for decades. Without fear. So, a little fear coming their way is not a bad thing.

As far as Egypt goes? I could care less about them or anyone else that follows that bogus “religion”.

I was thinking of the scene towards the end of Blazing Saddles where Dom Delouise has that line.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

One side has AGS and the other PGS.

When the mood shifts, they change jackets.

That way, no matter who wins/loses, the ‘protesters’ can lay claim to the fact that they backed the winning side.

They learned that from J’fn Kerry (he served in Vietnam) and can claim they backed the Government BEFORE they opposed it - or vice versa.
