Wednesday, Feb. 2, President Barack Obama delivered an ultimatum to Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman and the army and security chiefs: Mubarak must be removed in the coming hours or else US aid to Egypt will be cut off, debkafile's Washington sources exclusively report. Pressure on the Egyptian armed forces to oust the president forthwith was further applied by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who called Vice President Omar Suleiman, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates who called Egyptian defense minister Mohamed Tantawi, and US armed forces chief Adm. Mike Mullen in a telephone call to the Egyptian chief of staff Gen. Sami Enan.,
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UK Prime Minister David Cameron were recruited earlier to lean hard on Egyptian army chiefs to bring Mubarak's presidency to an end in the coming hours.

Sounds right. Obama is almost always on the wrong side of things.

Doesn’t matter. 0bama says lots of things, then does the opposite. For example, he said that he’d filibuster Telecom Immunity, but then voted *for* it, instead.
0bama said that he’d only accept public campaign money, then raised more private campaign funds than any candidate in *world* history.
0bama talks. Utterly meaningless. He doesn’t even remember what he said 1 day prior.
World leaders know the above.
Moreover, the Egyptian Military knows that the Ayatollah executed the entire Iranian officers corps after the radical Islamists took over Tehran in 1979.
Thus, to save their own lives, the Egyptian military will not quietly watch their country being taken over by the same folks today.

I've read something like this before. Hmmm.... "On orders from U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Henry Cabot Lodge, the American ambassador to South Vietnam, refused to meet with Diệm. Upon hearing that a coup d'état was being designed by ARVN generals led by General Dương Văn Minh, the United States gave secret assurances to the generals that the U.S. would not interfere. Dương Văn Minh and his co-conspirators overthrew the government on November 1, 1963. "The coup was very swift. On November 1, with only the palace guard remaining to defend President Diệm and his younger brother, Ngô Đình Nhu, the generals called the palace offering Diệm exile if he surrendered. However, that evening, Diệm and his entourage escaped via an underground passage to Cholon, where they were captured the following morning, November 2. The brothers were executed in the back of an armoured personnel carrier by Captain Nguyen Van Nhung while en route to the Vietnamese Joint General Staff headquarters. Diệm was buried in an unmarked grave in a cemetery next to the house of the U.S. ambassador."

Or he has an ulterior motive. What the hell is wrong with a nine month transistion if it helps to ensure the people receive a Democracy as they insist they want and not a Isalmic Theocracy.

Huh? Are you saying that we should continue to bleed American taxpayers to keep the torturer in power?
To: GlockThe Vote
I agree, that’s the only answer that makes any sense at all.

How is cutting off tax aid “interfering?” This is the one thing that Obama has done right.
To: plain talk
The people who are “friggin nuts” are the ones who want to keep Mubarak on the U.S. taxpayer gravytrain.
