“Can one be in the fog, and not know and sometimes, if comfortable, not care?”

For a while, perhaps. But in this case, making the wrong decisions will have dire consequences. If this “fog” causes Mubarek to step down abruptly, or be removed by force, this is going to go from a “3” to near “10” very quickly (”1” being Paris in springtime, “10” being Rwanda).

This is a confused, chaotic situation — one which benefits the MB.

Agree.....it's not clear who's doing what over there.

“I’m curious if you think there are goodMB supporters.”

I’m assuming that is a joke, but in case it’s not, each side has an agenda. But, I think chaos leans more into what the anti MB crowd has in mind than the MB Crowd. Revolutions usually go like that.

already at 6 to 7 plus, and the majority of the world has no idea what is taking place, as do those who allowed themselves to be placed in harms way? the fog.... it seduces.

Fox News Team Severely Beaten, Hospitalized In Cairo
By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Thursday February 3, 2011

FOX News Channel’s veteran foreign correspondent Greg Palkot and his camerman Olaf Wiig have suffered severe injuries in Cairo while covering the unrest in the Egypt capital. Palkot was badly beaten and Wiig has a possible broken jaw after attacked by pro-Hosni Mubarak supporters yesterday. Both were hospitalized overnight. Out of concern for the safety of its journalists, Fox News kept the incident a secret until their release from the hospital today. In 2007, the same producer, Olaf Wiig, was taken hostage in the Gaza strip with correspondent Steve Centanni. They were released 2 weeks later.

This marks the most brazen attack on American journalists in Egypt where violence has been escalating, with 10 anti-Hosni Mubarak protesters killed over the past 24 hours in Tahrir Square alone. Yesterday, CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC News’ Christiane Amanpour were confronted by angry mobs supporting Mubarak but left largely unscathed. There have been reports of the Egyptian military rounding up foreign journalists, possibly for their own protection, and keeping them away from the areas of intense fighting.

UPDATE: On air, Fox News’ John Roberts just gave more details about the incident involving Palkot and Wiig. “Greg Palkot who you have seen with all his amazing coverage of the protest for the last few days and Olaf Wiig, his dedicated cameraman, were above Tahrir Square yesterday, reporting on the incidents going on there, reporting on the back and forth between the demonstrators and pro government forces,” Roberts said. “They were forced to leave their position when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at it, a large fire erupted. They were forced to flee. They ran out and ran right into the pro Mubarak crowd and were severely beaten and had to be taken to the hospital, spent the night in the hospital. The extent of their injuries was fairly grave, however, they have been released from the hospital.”

Live feed from Al Jizz has been down for a half hour or so, and the last picture was a very distant shot of the Square over a rooftop. HOpefully they bugged out after taking it, as it would not take too long to triangulate back to the camera’s location. Any remaining journalists had better know their escape and avoidance tactics really well if they are going to remain at large - or alive. They occasionally show some “recent” short clips repeatedly - perhaps they are getting smart and shooting from a discrete location, then beaming it up to a satellite from another location, and then relocating again. The Iranian Protestors (God rest their souls) did a pretty good job getting covert video out over a tight electronic blockade. Perhaps our journalists could take a lesson from them. The Natives can pull it off a lot better than outsiders, and should be used a lot more IMHO. Does anyone know of any live video feed getting out of the riot zone

Al Jazerra is still on. If you have access the Link TV channel, it is on there. There are no live shots on now though on the square.

When you type “MB” are you referring to the Muslim Brotherhood?

humans (myself included) always attempt to convince themselves they live not 'in the fog'. Therefore the facts of life are wrong decisions for the majority or no decision by a majority. Life goes on and sleep and fog rule everyone's life. Should I be quiet? Yes, typing words on paper or a computer screen can be hazardous to one's health, and yes, even in America.

I got up last night, while Bret Baier’s show was replaying and Fox had a ALERT NEWS BREAK.

Greg Jarrett was the host. He showed street scenes LIVE -— a little before Noon in Cairo -— then he interviewed the former UN Ambassador from Israel, Dan Gillerman, who totally laid this mess on Obama for “throwing Mubarak to the dogs” and he went onto state that obama was silent and absent during Iran’s truly democratic uprising, and questioned what obama would do were China’s people do once again try another Tianamen Square.

Gillerman also said that this is an earthquake that will effect not only the whole of the Middle East, but civilization as we know it. I agree with him.

Here’s Hillary..........UGH.

EERRRRgh, sorry Hush, For some reason I typed in MB instead of Mubarak. It’s been quite a week and I’m starting to feel like the folks at the end of Beetle Juice with the tiny heads.

ElBaradei, Brotherhood reject government talks
MSNBC/Reuters ^ | Feb. 3, 2011

Posted on Thursday, February 03, 2011 1:42:23 PM by Free ThinkerNY

Opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei and the Muslim Brotherhood have spurned the government’s offer to discuss Egypt’s future, Reuters and the Middle East network Al Arabiya report.

Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq invited opposition groups to talks on Thursday. Some groups had agreed, including the liberal, nationalist Wafd party, which is a legal party. The Brotherhood is banned.

“We have refused to meet. Any negotiations are conditional on Hosni Mubarak stepping down and also conditional on security in Tahrir square,” ElBaradei told Reuters by telephone.

LOL, it’s ok. It occurred to me that you MIGHT mean Mubarak, but I wasn’t sure. Glad we caught that before some of the less forgiving FReepers strung you up. ;-)

I understand about this being a rough week. Watching the chaos in Egypt is tearing me up. A part of my childhood is burning, and on top of that we are watching the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood. WITH the assistance of our own government!
