NYT - Europe Leaders Call for Faster Transition in Egypt

“The transition needs to be rapid and credible and it needs to start now,” Prime Minister David Cameron told parliament on Wednesday.

Mr. Sarkozy “reiterates his wish to see a concrete transition process start without delay, in response to a desire for change and renewal so strongly expressed by the population."

“People want democratic change and they want it now,” he [German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle] said. “It must be a change toward democracy. Not a change that begins someday, but one which begins now.”

Well, if Brian Williams said it, it must be true. He wouldn’t speculate about such a thing. He’s there to report the news. /s

” Well if they do, expect the iranians to get involved, the libyans and the rest, “

That’s kinda what I meant by my comment “Oh, cr@p”... ;)

Yet, when the gov’t of Honduras removed their prez for trying to stay on (unconstutionally), the US said it was a military coup and removed aid to Honduras.

That sums up my thoughts on the issue. Instead of a relatively peaceful authoritarian muslim government, we will end up with a radical extremist muslim government. The Christians will die and there will be more war.

I heard a clip this morning of Chris Matthews likening the MB to the Tea Parties.

Bookmarking New Thread.

Now the real revolutionary business begins.

I see that Anderson Cooper was smacked in the head several times by “pro-Mubarak” forces.

I am imagining Hosni singing “I’m Not Going” from Dream Girls!

“We repeat our STRONG call for restraint”...per Robert Gibbs

Now THAT is sure to change things...

Per BBC: George Bush 41 called Mubarak and suggested it’s time to leave....

“Bad development when they turn on each other. Means the cops and the Army will have to pick sides.”

A pretry standard strategy for the incumbent regime. First, force violent clashes in the streets. Then when Egyptians are dying, there is ample justification to bring the army in to settle things down. So it’s not current government + army vs. protestors, it’s respected national army preventing the shedding of Egyptian blood. Then when the army has things under control, you plan the transition away from Mubarak.

Yes, it’s totally insane. Our government is out of their minds.

UN is saying 300 have been killed. Unsure whether that is since the start of this or just today.

500 have been injured today.

Don't be so naive’. The MB is under the radar. A recent survey showed that over 58% of the population prefers Islamic government. ElBaradei is an absolute MB member. They are the oldest and most powerful group in Islamic society.
