Mark Boslough's Jan. 24 My View, "Climate-change deniers ignore science," reached a new depth of vitriol and dishonesty in the debate over climate change.
He should apologize to Harrison Schmitt, the staff and supporters of The Heartland Institute, and readers of The New Mexican and formally retract his false factual statements.
While there is little disagreement among scientists that the Earth's climate warmed in the second half of the 20th century, there is no broad agreement as to the causes of the warming, its impacts on human health or animal habitat, whether the warming trend will continue in the 21st century, or, importantly, what if anything should be done about it. Boslough is either ignorant of this fact or dishonest when he claims otherwise.
The lack of consensus among scientists is demonstrated by every survey conducted of scientists, by the 31,000 American scientists who signed a petition specifically rejecting the claim that man-made emissions of greenhouse gases are disrupting Earth's climate, and by new research appearing nearly every day in leading scientific journals.

It is you sir who should apologize and be banned if anyone should. You represent a fossil-fuel supported faux think tank that publishes junk science in order to manipulate public opinion. Everything you wrote was a lie. And apparently you have no qualms about trying to wreck the careers of honest people.
And:
97% of publishing experts and every international science academy agrees that humans are causing modern warming. Adding heat trapping gases such as CO2 will cause the planet to warm. Basic physics that has been around for over a century proves this. The oceans and atmosphere are warming and ice is melting. It is no surprise.

PING!
Vitriol and dishonesty in the new gilded Age of Civility? This. will. not. do. . .
Tear Down the Wall, Tear Down the Wall. . . lol
Funny how Pink Floyd relates to almost everything (in my weird mind)!
Climate-change deniers ignore science
The author is Mark Boslough, a physicist and computational modeler at Sandia National Laboratories, and an adjunct professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UNM.
(Wonder how much research money he gets from NASA or US DOE to promote these views).
Yes, Boslough is a nobody and an ignoramus. And while I certainly applaud Joseph L. Bast for exposing Boslough’s lies, the bother of refuting him only repeats his name for public consumption. Sometime it is wise to remember the Chinese proverb, “Only a fool argues with a fool.”
Forget Boslough. He’s a nobody, going nowhere.
How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?
You're right; selections from Boslough at the link:
... the so-called "Climategate" scandal, the publication of out-of-context quotes from stolen e-mails. Multiple independent investigations have completely exonerated the individuals who were victims of this "cybercrime." They did nothing wrong except to use politically incorrect language in their private messages, and their scientific integrity remains intact.
The authors of Heartland Institute publications, including Schmitt, refuse to play by the rules of science, which include integrity, honesty, and peer review. Heartland does no research, but generates reports containing, among other things, fabricated temperature data and doctored graphs that are intended to undermine evidence-based science.
Among the victims of the ongoing denialist slander crusade are Michael Mann and Kevin Trenberth, both prominent and highly respected. I asked Mann about Keller's claim regarding his supposed concession that Medieval temperatures might have been higher than now. According to Mann, "There is no scientific evidence whatsoever for the claim made by Keller in either my work, or any other peer-reviewed scientific work in this area." In short, Keller made this up.
LOL, see what I mean?
...It’s so cold today that I propose we mandate the creation of CO2-production plants just to increase the temp. ;)
But seriously, I hate being cold.
I stopped reading right there. Yesterday I had no idea what a Mark Boslough is and tomorrow I will no longer care.
It takes mind-boggling idiocy for a wannabe scientist to go up against the experience and the award-winning research and analyses of Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT or DR.Nils-Axel MÖRNER the former head of the Paleogeophysics and Geodynamics department at Stockholm University.
One simple question will obliterate quack "scientists" like Mark Boslough :
Let me pick detailed weather data for a ten-year period in the 20th century, let you massage it with your GIGO 'model,' and tell us what the weather was (as in already happened) for the following ten year period. Oh yes, and include the complete listing of the program code.
It is a certainty that your model will fail. So long as that's true, be a good little megalomaniac and go play with yourself in the corner.
True scientists acknowledge that there is much in the atmospheric climate dynamics that they neither understand, nor even know, yet. It is yet to be explained how anyone can (computer) model what they do not yet know and get meaningful results.
