Hayward Man Faces Up to 25-Years to Life for Scalding Death of Infant

Hayward, CA - Sentencing is set for March for a Hayward man convicted of torturing and murdering his girlfriend's 18-month old child.

A jury convicted Christian Perez on charges including second-degree murder, torture, and child abuse in the death of Eli Rojas. Prosecutors told the jury Perez placed the child in 150-degree water, causing the baby's skin to come off. Perez then enlisted help from his sister and her husband to go to Walgreens to get ointment for the burn. The child died two months later after a seizure.

The sister and her husband were convicted for their parts in the crime and sentenced to probation. Perez could get 25 years to life when he's sentenced on March 25th.
