Yes, snow is made of water. But dumping it into the ocean, also made of water, is against the law, since snow often picks up harmful pollutants as it is plowed off the streets. But with snowbanks in Boston piling up to near-record levels this month just check boston.com's Shaq-o-meter one veteran environmental leader says trucking all that snow to the city's six "snow farms" doesn't make sense when the Atlantic Ocean is right next door

What do they think will happen when it all melts and runs off...? Their treatment plants will be overwhelmed.
Whatta bunch-o-Schmucks!!!!
Since when does common sense ever enter their minds?
Giant hair dryers is the answer.
Everyone should break out their flamethrowers and get in some practice cause the unrest in the middle east can only mean one thing:
THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE HAS BEGUN!!!
When I was in NYC, they always dumped the snow into the harbor. And Boston in early days, as well. I can’t believe that they would do anything else. How dumb can you get?
Read about a guy in Boston...he got in trouble with the cops after he got so fed up with the snow that he tried using explosives to blow it up.
Well...they put all that there salt on the roads and we sure as heck don’t want to be putting that kind of pollutant into the ocean, now would we?
Burn it! (just kidding)
Here in Alaska we just pile it up several stories tall in city owned lots with drainage and we just let it melt, usually by june they are gone.

Boston is trucking snow away from the Fish Pier (which is next to the OCEAN!) and dumping it in vacant lots.
They may have to start using parks and playgrounds as “snow farms.” (So the snow is not safe for fishes, but OK for kids and pets???)

Only if they’re wind powered!
Wouldn’t want to add to the carbon footprint, doncha know!
How’s the cat situation? Did your lost one ever make it home?
What is this “mind” you speak of?
LOL! Yep! Except for all the boots, mittens, hats, books, pencils, lunch pails, etc. from the kids playing "King of the Hill" on them.
No she was never found, the new kitty is getting along fine, she still has no meow from being kept in a kennel and I guess living in a garbage truck before that.
Last year in Baltimore, they brought in a jet engine contraption that was setup over a storm drain and the snow was dumped in and quickly melted and away it went. I believe New York used to do this but not sure if they still do.
Which reminds me, I will try and get me one of those metal finders, those mounds can have all sorts of hidden surprises, especially the one like at the Traget shopping lot in Wasilla.
Lost keys, cellphones, watches, tools, coins.
