Thats a real cover letter from a real person claiming to be a real professional, who thinks she can get a real job. The letter was fielded by publicist and trend-spotter Richard Laermer, who gets so many of these he collects them and, when asked, forwards them to reporters for fun.
The letter just made me shake my head till it nearly fell off. But it isnt rare. In fact, Laermer says, its typical.

It is my 1st gift of choice for every bridal shower I am invited to attend. I am on my 2nd copy as my original was worn to tatters. When my husband’s grandmother passed away her pristine copy was one of the things I asked if I could have.
I picked up a 1943 version of “The Joy of Cooking at a garage sale when I was in my teens because it was the favorite cookbook for everyone in my family and I wanted to have a copy for my own home. It is still the most used cookbook I have in my kitchen and for now is still holding together quite well. The cookbook is actually quite a bit older than me!

I thought it was funny that so many of the people on this thread seem to think that it was an article about bad grammar and bad job applicants because they were too lazy to actually read the article.
