I'm offended that my taxed dollars are sunk into the non-productive, non-producing money pit called public education.
So, this is how discipline is handled in our out of control schools. I can see how "educators" might recognize chaos in the classroom as a lucrative source of income.
When will "hardship" and "it's our culture" exemptions kick in?
She was given lunch detention and then given a ticket - seems she was punished twice for the same offence - is it any wonder kids just give up!

Well, we’re talking about “in” the classroom in this case. And I think it’s great the kid has to work to pay off the fine. Make em’ all pay for their stupidity - save the taxpayer a few bucks.
Maybe we should mandate hard labor in place of 9th grade, then stick em’ back into the classroom thereafter. I guarantee their attitudes, grades, and vernacular will improve.

When I was in school, back in the dark ages, discipline
came from the business end of an oak paddle.
In the good old days, they would have washed out her mouth with soap.
I bet she is caucasian.
I love this. Perhaps we should charge students for all bad behavior. MAYBE students will be forced to be decent instead of nasty brats. I hope this continues and intensifies.
The man understood we were not college bound students and used the class time usually for some wise and sage advice about real life we were soon to face. He told us about a man who began the nation on the wrong path & almost toward a dictatorship. He hated FDR with a passion. LOL.
As for the girl in this article? I'd dish out some extra assignments {research} and a week of after school suspension. I think that was the going punishment in my school days for minor infractions.
Actual monetary fines for these type of problems? I hate to see this happening in schools. $637 is ridiculous meaning it is simply another revenue generation scam dreamed up by some politician with police as the revenue officer. Had the kid physically assaulted the teacher? Oh yea $637 plus suspension for the semester. Assault is an actual crime. The $637 would be worked off two hours per day at minimum wage cleaning the school restrooms during after school hours.
Then what’s Biden’s fine for “this is a BFD”??
I'm a public school teacher in Texas. I get offended when my students-- 6th graders, mind you-- use language. They say sh/t, f&&k, d&%k, c%$k, bi%$h, and so on. It's not an every day occurrence, but when it happens, I write it up. It offends me-- at school or here at FR. [I notice that "pu$$y" was very popular here. It offended me. Still does.] Teachers get to be offended. You would be.
The student may or may not get a citation. Someone else, not me, the teacher, decides whether to give that citation. Someone else-- the judge-- decides whether there's a fine or community service or a warning.
Know what you're talking about before you shoot your mouth off.
I wonder about things like this.
I know someone who was riding their bicycle, making a left turn at a corner, staying on the right side of the street, and a car came from behind, cut off the cyclist to make a right turn and the cyclist locked up their brakes to avoid t-boning the car while the occupants of the car laughed their head off at the bikers expression.
The cyclist immediately screamed WATCH WHERE THE F- YOU’RE GOING, YOU STUPID A-H-!!
And the cyclist rode off. Fortunately, a Ploce officer was Right Behind the car that cut off the cyclist.
The cop followed that car into the parking lot off the quickie mart, told them to remain until he got back, then went to get the cyclist.
The cop then told the cyclist that in order to give the car a ticket for driving to endanger and failure to grant right of way, he would have to...ARREST THE CYCLIST FOR SWEARING in public!
True story, the cyclist didnt want to get arrested, so the moron who ran him off the road and almost struck him was allowed to go free, because the cop said it was a greater crime to swear in public than it was to place someone’s life in danger.
$637 fine for cussing? Frankly, at that point in my life, I’d have told the judge to go (obscenity) himself. I’d take the jail time.
Show this to Danny?
Lots of idiots in this story.
“......The complaint said Lene was offended,”
You are in the wrong job, you delicate flower.
“Mullins acknowledges she was wrong, but said a classmate was getting on her nerves.”
Hey, it’s her fault I said something. She was annoying me, so I didn’t have a choice but to say something to her.
I’d also add another $50 to the little thugette’s fine for poor grammar.
Good Lord...she got in trouble because the teacher was “offended.” Not because it was crude, vulgar, demeaning, foul-mouthed and uncivilized behavior. No, because somebody was offended. This seems to be the only thing that people under the leftist/marxist spell worry about. What a pitiful sign of the times.
Let me play devil’s advocate for a second: the main reason for the ticket was that the teacher was offended. How many times does a teacher get offended if a student questions book material, for example. During a recent honors history class, my son “offended” the teacher when he questioned the premise that Americans “victimized” the Japanese by using Atomic Bombs. Son’s point of view was using the bombs saved at least a million American lives. My point is this: ticketing a student for “offending” a teacher could very easily go down a path restricting freedom of speech very easily. IMHO.
There is no other purpose.
