Trust me, the Obama spin machine is already figuring out how to “Blame Bush”.

Hmmm... I really do not know if we can keep any “boy friend” in Egypt or the Middle East for that matter. So because of special relations with a few we should throw all our weight behind yet another trap?

Can you say foreign aid failure and government throwing more and more money at a black hole?

Not trying to spam the board, so to speak, but I just couldn't resist adding this little graphic to a second thread, because it is just so apropos of this article:

The Clueless Wonder:

Even though I have sympathy for the people of Egypt in trying to get rid of a dictator, I still I have the feeling that this is going to end badly. If Mubarak goes there is no moderate leadership that is strong enough to create a democractic Egypt. The best that I can see is a short Kerensky like interim government before the Muslim Brotherhood finally consolidates power. The only hope is that there are moderates willing to cut a deal with the military. Without the military involved in the next government, the moderate leaders of the demonstrations will end up before the Brotherhoods firing squads in one years time.

Presupposing Iranian domination is a stretch. They are Persian and Shiite. Egypt is Arab and Sunni.

Obozo is clueless. Hillary is clueless. Egypt will most likely fall to the MB, and by extension, Iran’s Ahmedinejad. They know he is a pushover, even easier than Carter. The loss of Egypt as an ally, even a poor one, will mean the effective end of the Zero’s presidency....

I loathe this toe-sucking turncoat, but what he writes here makes a lot of sense.

Alas, I expect Obama to be even more clueless about this than Carter was about Iran.

Egypt was not lost. The Muslims took back what the Brits thought they conquered in the 19th century.

Only now, the next step will be the conquest of the West.

The world’s and the US existence is to important to keep one’s mouth shut at this time.
Life trumps tradition.

Was it Richard M Nixon who said “it isn’t an issue of Diem or someone better, it is Diem or someone worse” back in the 60’s?

Not part of the states, never was.

Not interested in another “war fever” to bailout the Beltway and the banking carpetbagger scam.

Who lost Egypt? The anti-war democrats lost Egypt. If W did not face a firestorm over the Iraq war, tyrants like Mubarak would have had to reform their rule many years ago. But because the democrats and the media cut the legs from under W with their never ending attacks, the Mubaraks of the Middle East knew Bush did not have the domestic support to fully implement his ideas to democratize the Middle East. Now it is too late and the Muslim Brotherhood will benefit from the unrest occurring in the Middle East today.

First I'd heard of Shi'ite Iranian fundamentalists being in league with the Sunni Egyptian/Arab fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood.

I do worry about the sort of “amateur hour” foreign affairs farce that always seems to occur when Democrat administrations take office. The comparison of Obama’s ineptitude with Carter's ... “Often wrong, never in doubt” ... is both apt and central to our problem. What's worse today is that we have a Secretary of State who is more about managing her career and legacy than managing American foreign policy.

"The Iranian government is waiting for Egypt to fall into its lap. The Muslim Brotherhood, dominated by Iranian Islamic fundamentalism, will doubtless emerge as the winner should the government of Egypt fall"

I didn't know Morris was this dumb about international affairs.

The MB would rot in the gutters of hell before they did Iran's bidding. They are mortal enemies.

That doesn't mean the MB is benign, or doesn't hate the West and Israel. It just means they hate Persians/Shiites more.
