To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to every one a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.
That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has in his personal safety and personal liberty, is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest.
The Utopian schemes of leveling, and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical, as those which vest all property in the Crown, are arbitrary, despotic, and in our government unconstitutional.
Since I came to Congress, I have been the author of the "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Act." This simple bill would add a line near the bottom of Page 2 of all Form 1040 tax returns, allowing any taxpayer to voluntarily and very easily pay more tax than the law requires.

“One branch of American politics shares Krugman’s view that the money you earn — the material manifestation of your mental and physical labor — is not yours. It belongs to the government.”
This appears to me to be a good working definition of slavery or at least serfdom. Why does no supposed conservative ever make this point in public debate with the libs that their concept of the relationship of man to the state is the same as fuedalism or slavery or collectivist despotism such as the Soviet Union?
Oh wait, that won't happen. Krugman, (like every Liberal), is a Coward. He hires Jack Booted Government Thugs through his vote and the vote fraud his friends commit rather than robbing his fellow Citizens in person.
The Federal Government should add one line to the 1040 form marked “Voluntary Additional Income Tax” and see how many wannabe Krugmans fill it in.
the definition of serfs
I love it!
I also hope the Rats don't try to fund any new social programs with the proceeds from the likes of Krugman and his Rat friends, there won't be much if any money there.
“Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.”
Love it.
Any politician who uses the words “tax expenditure” must be voted out at the soonest opportunity, and be noted for further attention if things degenerate and the Left tries to go outside the constitutional order.
Once upon a time, a rascal like that would have been run out of town. Now he’s paid by the New York Times to spread pernicious lies..
>>Class warfare is not hard to wage since most people are already jealous and resentful of the rich. <<
Let’s not forget the liberal definition of “rich” — “anyone and everyone who makes more money than me.” Tax THOSE GUYS!
I say we go to Krugman’s house and take his car, go into his living room and take his furniture, then hit the kitchen and gorge ourselves on his fridge. I mean, by his own statements he has no right to those things.
Problem is old Communists don’t die. They are killed and replaced by younger Communists.
The origins of Loughner's delusions are clear: mental illness. What are the origins of Krugman's?
And a great line by Charles K. Maybe a desire to support the leftist, Marxist agenda? But I repeat Charles' diagnosis, this is mental illness as well.
Get ready for the”Your life is not Yours”crowd.
The left is voting themselves into slavery to the state but is too blinded by greed to realize it.
So if they own your money they own your life? No wonder it’s a priority Number One for the govt class to be in sole charge of our health care in spite of the fact that it’s a revenue loser. I can just see the thrill going up their leg every time they give some ungrateful serf the thumbs down.
