The American government secretly backed leading figures behind the Egyptian uprising who have been planning regime change for the past three years, The Daily Telegraph has learned. The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police. On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.

Well that was wrong IMHO and Osama had a chance to change course but he didn't. So if this blows up in our face it's his problem now. I never thought Bush's democracy in the Middle East was a rational policy anyways.
Sooooooo.....some of this information is coming from Wikileaks...
And what is Barack’s response going to be when the Islamists take over?
The uprising in Egypt isn’t about democracy, the radicals are going to take over and the Coptics left in Egypt are going to be slaughtered. This is Barack’s Shah of Iran moment. He’s been kissing up to terrorists since before he was elected.
If Mubarack stays in power, we can kiss our relationship with Egypt goodbye.
I’d look for the union label :)
Why not? It worked well in the US. We Americans fell for the carrot hook, line and sinker.
And those “experts” who don't think the mullahs will take over the revolution a la Iran, are a case study of ignorance. Mob psychology defies everything Americans know, but Communists understand and know how to manipulate them. The commies have a very impressive record of accomplishing their purpose's through mobs. When you look at the pictures and see little guys with megaphones and other such devises, you know they are taking control. Examine the photos - they tell a lot. Also watch the world press as they publish stories and photos provided by the revolutionaries. The commies and Islamists have a long history of fabricating stories and pics.
“Boy that sure sounds alot like the very same thing thats going on here.”

Yep, we’re a little bit behind them but I can see their taillights in the darkness.
A tradition of marrying your first cousin is not a great indicator of future stability and progress is it?
Did Rondog do a mubarak?
Interest post. In the 2000’s, I always felt that Iran was prime to be overthrown. The people overwhelming did not like the Theo-Cratic regime. It was unstable enough such that Bush’s speeches supporting Irani freedom and the freedom fighters may be enough (along with some covert activities) that the regime would have been overthrown by a democracy.IWO, a “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” speech would go a long way. Iran was prime in the 2000’s to be pushed into a warless revolution. There were so many opportunities.
But, what did Bush and Condi do? Nothing. The muttered about the Iran’s nuke program and UN sanctions. Something that Hussien is copying today.
One things for sure, his rosy SOTU speech is dead, gone and forgotten, buried by Egypt has killed it stone dead. Would be hilarious, he started his presidency with that crappy speech in Cairo, today his presidency probably lies in ruins in Cairo if this pans out as i think it will.
The crowds are just getting bigger and bigger the more they try to stop them, this is a full fledge revolution.
Over 50,000 Egyptians are currently in Tahrir Square alone protesting.
I'm sure it's just a coincedence.
"Hey, they won"
