A reporter and a cameraman for ABC7 TV were assaulted and robbed Thursday evening in East Oakland while reporting about efforts to find new homes for a pack of severely abused pit-bull dogs.
The two men had finished interviewing neighbors in the 600 block of Capistrano Drive, near where officers found the abused and neglected animals in December, about 7:10 p.m. when two men approached them. One forced the reporter, Tomas Roman, to the ground at gunpoint and threatened his life. The other armed man confronted the cameraman, Stan Wong, and beat him with a gun.

Ever see the movie Judgement Night?
That was the first time I saw Jeremy Piven and I thought he was hilarious.
If Detroit is New Falluja, then e. Oakland is new Tikrit.
Google.maps view of the area of the incident doesn’t show a squalid, bombed-out neighborhood in the physical sense. It’s all about the people who live there.
Oakland, CA has some very nice neighborhoods, but (obviously) that’s not one of them.
Why not just go to Cairo and wave the American flag?
Oakland is tough. Jerry Brown used it for profit and made it worse. Parking meters are everywhere and few get used. The Black Panthers (Bobby Seal and crew) became politicians in the 60’s and created racial tensions. The city gets few property taxes now. TBerkeley students who volunteer in Oakland schools see criminal behavior and stop volunteering. The news guys should have known better. The flat part of Oakland is to be avoided.

Just where was Rerand Yee when all this was happening?
One of my daughters lived in Oakland for several years, commuting to her job in Emeryville five minutes away through those unsafe streets. I always told her, if anyone approaches your car then floor the gas pedal, doesn't matter if it's a red light, just get the hell away. A legislator got car-jacked at one of the intersections that she stopped at daily. She moved to Kansas, and I was happy she got out of Oakland alive.
That's what I was thinking. Bringing enlightenment to blind liberals one robbery at a time.
Hahahahahaha. Too funny. I hope they kept the camera running.
Uh, don’t look now, but “EAST Detroit” is Windsor - Canada.
Send a couple of divisions of National Guardsmen and reservists to take them both down.
If you'd just stayed on it (whichever of the two freeways north out of Long Beach you were on), you could have jumped off onto I-105, or I-5/I-10 which would have taken you to Santa Monica. The 105 would have taken you to LAX. No need to get off at all.
Detroit, Oakland, Newark...
Gee, come to think of it, they all vote Democrat.
Parasite Nation rules in Oakland. The animals took over Oakland years ago and the libs have no clue what to do.
Bobby Seal and crew (Huey Newton Eldridge Cleaver).
When I worked through that area in the 70’s and 80’s, the tensions were palpable. Perhaps prior to WW2 it was a nice city, too long ago for me to know but from my experience there, it is the Newark of the West.
Must have been Amish
