It's time to end Big Government internationalism
The Washington Examiner ^ | January 28, 2011 | Thomas M. Skypek

When it comes to foreign policy, it can be difficult these days to distinguish between Democrats and Republicans. Both parties are advocates of big government internationalism. Their differences on a range of issues—from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to Iran and North Korea—are more stylistic than substantive. And when it comes to the big strategic questions (e.g., For what purpose does the U.S. engage in foreign affairs?) the major parties are in lockstep. Both subscribe to a Wilsonian, liberal international agenda of democracy promotion and nation building with little regard for cost—or the Constitution.

A reformulation of American foreign policy is long overdue and the Tea Party movement is in a unique position to expand the ongoing national debate on federal spending into Washington’s costly and overly ambitious grand strategy.

Great idea. Everyone downsizes but China, and it waltzes right in.

Hegemony will never cease to exist. The only question is, whose do we wish to prevail?

I prefer the Western influence to prevail. May God please forbid the Chinese or Islamic brand to dominate.

The article makes some good points....however

There will be no change until you end Free Trade Communism. getting out of all our foreign conflicts is moot if you still practice Free Trade Communism.

Its time to stop subsidizing the Communist Chinese and start rebuilding our manufacturing and economic base in America.

Free Trade, Communism, and Globalism are all abject failures...it is time to stop becoming dependent on the world.

“a Wilsonian, liberal international agenda of democracy promotion “

Wilson wasn’t interested in spreading democracy. He is the one who submitted to divving up most of the former Ottoman Empire, the majority of Africa and the Middle East among various Allied powers after WWI in exchange for The League of Nations. That is one reason why there are so many monarchs and dictators there today.
