From FOX:
DEVELOPING: Loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Friday, as protesters demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak defied a curfew, Al Jazeera reported. Egyptian television reports the ruling party headquarters in Cairo are on fire.
From TWITTER:
WashingtonPost: Clinton: We urge #Egypt authorities to allow peaceful protest, reverse unprecedented steps it has taken to cut off communications less than 20 seconds ago
I'm taking issue with the execrable job the media has been doing. My rock collection exhibits more curiosity than these bloody reporters.
The military’s decision makes sense. Who the heck do they tansition to otherwise? The only person the Islamists would be happy with is an Islamist or their puppet. And I don’t see Egyptians in general electing an Islamist gov’t. If Islamists could win hearts and minds they wouldn’t need to rule through despots.
Here is a new FR thread about an attack on Anderson Cooper. There are also a bunch of additional new Egypt threads.

A MB guy on BBC now saying 15 people have been shot. He says one has been killed. (There’s a new name for the MB - don’t have it handy in my head)
I should say that the lack of knowledge applies both ways. You’re right to say we don’t know squat.
They are driving American Tanks, Jets and missile batteries. They will lose that 1.8 Billion they get in aid and also if they were ever to turn that equipment on their own people, they were by treaty, to lose all aid, parts, money, etc,, from the USA.
Snort. Them and ACORN.
Thanks for update.
BBC reporter in the thick of it saying people are trying to stop him from reporting...lots of rock throwing..fights everywhere...
1512: Ashraf Khalil, a freelance journalist in Cairo tweets: “Soldiers literally just watching this, but protest organisers trying to control crowd’s animosity toward the army. One guy grabbed the microphone with a message to the army, “Make a decision now” and defend the Tahrir protesters. But others grabbed the microphone away saying, “We don’t want to turn the people against the army.”
Reuters reporting new statement from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry rejecting US and European calls for immediate political transition in Egypt.
The Egyptian statement says it rejects calls for immediate political transition & views them as aimed to incite internal situation in Egypt.
Yes, i think i can safely say thats Mubarak telling Obama to go stick it.
If they thought it was a good idea, Congress could still do it. The House Pubbies could pass it, then dare the 'Rats in the Senate to refuse to go along and Obama to veto it if passed. If it's a good idea to fund Egypt's military, and Barry refuses, Congress better find a way.
Thanks, and you’re right. Heading out for the day, keep me updated everyone. Prayers and blessings!
“ONE bright spot in this crisis- NO intervention from the UN”
Wait... The UN just said the latest development is ‘unacceptable’. They couldn’t resist, and wow harsh language, lol. Ok, now I gotta go.
@edhenrycnn: Robert Gibbs tells me WH is this morning renewing its call for non-violence in #egypt | Oh, good. That’ll work. (rolls eyes)
I’m sure that friday will be a bad day to be in Egypt.
They are throwing concrete blocks off the rooftops onto the people below. This is sadistic.
Obama said last night, that he was “proud” of the “protestors” and how they are being so “civil” towards one another at all costs!............(What an idiot.)
