Airforce officials are keeping quiet about a commander with the Alabama Air National Guard who could possibly face charges following an investigation that he had received nearly $96,000 in unauthorized compensatory time and had regularly flown an F-16 on personal trips. The Montgomery Advertiser obtained a report via the Freedom of Information Act, in which an unamed wing commander of the 187th Fighter Wing, was ultimately found to have committed four violations of National Guard and Air Force regulations.

What did a plane cost in 1905???

Considering that there were probably fewer than 50 on the planet in 1905, each one was worth a whole lot more than an F-16 today, in relative terms.

... a lot of upside to that. AND you get to keep the jet!

I like the 12 seater with a bench. Slightly wider body, bigger seats that move in umpteen different directions, fully stocked bar and yep, a bathroom.

You don’t think it’s a big deal on short flight until you just feel like using it before you land.

Personally, I clean out the mini bar, take a couple of decks of cards, travel toothpaste/toothbrush and I absolutely love those wet napkins.

I have another friend who will literally pull out a garbage and clean out the plane. Cracks me up every time.

No, you wouldn't. The Gulf Stream has a bathroom.

OK. I know you're right. But just once I'd love to fly in one of those suckers and do a barrel roll or something. ;~))

We land on private airfields and there are ANG and Marine planes on the tarmac like the one in Palm Springs.

I was stationed at a “rarely used” Army Post and we were visited 3 or 4 times a year by a USAF Fighter AC who just happened to “stop” by.
(Somehow the pilot’s father would be driving by to pick
him up.) Who cares!

My brother and I have this ongoing joke:

“You ain’t nothing until you own and fly a fighter jet.”

Maybe in a couple of years.

“And fighter jocks will be his judge and jury.”

Wrong. Politicians will be his jury, as his superiors likely had testicle removal surgery to get their stars.

Yeager used to take the base helicopter on fishing trips. But we’re in a cowardly, mickey mouse age now.

I narrowed that figure down...there were three aircraft on the planet in 1905. I guess that made them priceless! LOL!

Come to think of it, I’ve seen Ohio ANG F-16s at the OSU airport in Columbus. They’re either from Toledo or Springfield.

“That if you total up the aircraft he destroyed, he could well be Hanoi’s last ace?”

Are you aware that with that one line, you blew your chances to ghost write McPain’s book about his flyin’ exploits?

;-)

I cannot take your question at this time. The wing-warper on my Wright Flyer is giving me some trouble. As soon as Wilbur shoots the latest fix over, I'll call back. I am presently saving up for a Bleriot.

come on people.....we expect honesty and integrity in govt and in our military of all places....

there is no excuse for flying OUR jets for private outings.....not for senators and not for military pilots....

there are lowly infantry guys in Iraq and Afghanistan away from family and friends that don't come near the compensation that officers get.....like night and day....starting with accomodations, pensions, priviledges, etc....so I have NO sympathy for this cheater....

Yes, and the ditzy old SOB spotted the beer lady before I did. Did you see him jump up to applaud The Mombasa Moonbeam last night?

I am not worried about the writing job. Some fellows from JFK's office called me about doing his military and naval biography. Did you ever notice that John Forbes Kerry has the same initials as Jack Kennedy, of song and story? I am going to write about his swim up the Mekong River on that long-ago Christmas Eve.

A fighter jock getting *stick time* (practice) in a F15 for *whatever reason* (flying somewhere) is a good thing by my way of thinking.

Yes, he should pay it all back.

However, if I could do it, I might have...;-)
