Page Last Updated: Wednesday January 26, 2011 5:40pm PST

Police say a city councilwoman from Nevada found dead with her husband fatally shot him about an hour before calling 911 to report that she was going to kill herself.

The Las Vegas Sun reported Wednesday that the bodies of Donna Fairchild and Bill Fairchild were found before dawn Tuesday at their home in Mesquite, about 80 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

Donna Fairchild faced removal as the city's delegate to a regional business organization at a council meeting scheduled for the night of her death.

Police said she left a note and a box for her mother at a friend's house before the early morning murder-suicide.

$94 dollars? Charlie Rangel probably steals that daily.

She was under investigation for allegedly filing a $94.60 mileage receipt for a meeting she didn’t attend.

She was also facing accusations of violating the city’s Code of Conduct for making disparaging remarks about the Nevada Development Authority to a newspaper.

Murdering her husband and killing herself? There must be more to it than this...otherwise, she was pole vaulting over mouse turds.

sad.

“a warning that “serious neuropsychiatric events, including but not limited to depression, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt, and completed suicide have been reported in patients taking Zyban for smoking cessation.”

She looks like the nice lady next door, really weird stuff.

She blew away her husband while he was sleeping, then took her own life.

She had denied all wrongdoing, and claimed it was a simple mistake.

Oh, I almost forgot. (D).

For sure! I can understand if she felt embarrassed, ashamed but for goodness sakes— it wasn’t THAT bad. I suppose a drug might explain it....

God bless that poor family, so sad.

I've read several articles on this and I have yet to see one that mentions her party affiliation. Should I assume that she is a "D"?

She was under investigation for allegedly filing a $94.60 mileage receipt for a meeting she didn't attend.

A hunch.....But did she actually make a trip somewhere? Did the husband find out, or was he about to find out she had left for this alleged business trip meeting, but the city is saying she never attended the meeting.. If that's the case, where'd she go?

There is more to this than what is being reported.

If she had a paramour, he was probably in far more danger from the husband than she was.

Great use of the word. I think its usually a woman. But cool word anyway.

par amour :
Now usually derogatory a lover, esp an adulterous woman

2. an archaic word for beloved

[from Old French, literally: through love]

Anyone want to write a new opera, this might be a good story line for it.
