In the world of cable news opinion media, its a rather well accepted axiom that Fox News primetime line up advances opinion that are from the right of center, and that MSNBCs line up presents news and analysis from a left of center point of view. But according to a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter about the medias ostensible obsession with Sarah Palin, not everyone seems to see the opiniotainment landscape in such binary terms. Bill Wolff, for example, claims that MSNBC is not driven by politics.
Writing for The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Bond reports:
MSNBC vp primetime programming Bill Wolff maintains that his network covers Palin because shes newsworthy. Period. End of story.
Shes powerful and important, even if all you measure her by is her ability to raise money, he says. She matters. Her blessing and her endorsement mean something.
Wolff called it nonsense that MSNBC is driven by politics or even profits when it comes to how much airtime it devotes to Palin.

LOL LOL LOL LOL ..I did not know they did comedy now
Truth is that the way to save the country is to outlaw Democrats. They are Communists.
I don’t get exposed to tv much, but when I do, I have found myself literally laughing at the TV when I hear some of the things uttered on pMSNBC. I really don’t take them seriously. And according to the numbers, few do.
I consider myself to be liberal to moderate ... just that there are a couple of nonnegotiable points: the Bible is the Word of God; and the Constitutional Republic established by our founders (with small/limited government) is better than any of the other governments currently in the World (unfortunately, also including our current government which is a bloated socialistic body that bares very little resemblance to the government defined by our Constitution).
But I also recognize that in the SF Bay Area I'd be considered extreme right-wing.
La la la la la la la la da magical liberal tour...is coming to take you away...and tax you today...
MSNBC's politics is driven by nonsense.
The people on the Left are so broken that they really cannot be fixed. They need to be reduced to basic components and recycled.
Thanks, Colby. I needed a good laugh today.
And he used to be the announcer on “Around the Horn” on ESPN and the ill-fated “I-Max” on Fox Sports Net.
I don’t know why all the sports announcers are such big socialists.
Remember for a lib the truth is relative.
That guy looks crazy and evil. Perfect exec for MSNBC.
AGREED! Hard time reading the article I am laughing so hard.
I’m guessing reddish pink for the color of his sky.
Last election night, Matthews was asking her if she was "hypnotized or on drugs?" because she was not answering his question seriously.
The question that he wanted her to answer was "Now that the Republicans control the House, will you start issuing subpeonas to determine if Democratic members hate America?"
Then Lawrence O'Donnell declared that Bachmann was an "idiot". The well-rounded, non-agenda panel for election night also included Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. That was the entire panel. They were openly giddy when interviewing Democratic winners, while vitriolic towards Republican winners. It was like a gang of ill-informed high school kids found the keys to their father's television station.
Meanwhile at the same moment, over on "biased" Fox, Geraldine Ferraro and Sarah Palin were calmly discussing the new look of the incoming class, and the likely agenda they would bring, like adults. It was very insightful and cordial.
Holy Crap! Must be the joke of the day or something!
I guess fish don’t know they’re “wet”, either...
