The military brass in attendance didnt stand, cheer, applaud or even break a smile when President Barack Obama lauded the December repeal of the Dont Ask, Dont Tell policy in his State of the Union speech Tuesday night.
Air Force General Norton Schwartz and Marine Corps General James Amos looked like statues after the president played up the congressional repeal of the military policy.
Our troops come from every corner of this country they are black, white, Latino, Asian and Native American, Obama said. They are Christian and Hindu, Jewish and Muslim. And, yes, we know that some of them are gay. Starting this year, no American will be forbidden from serving the country they love because of who they love.
U.S. Navy Admiral Gary Roughhead, Army General George Casey and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Michael Mullen, who publicly supported repeal of DADT, didnt give Obama any positive reaction either.
The Joint Chiefs have in the past stood and applauded certain policies during State of the Union addresses.
Even more interesting, he mentions them after Mooslems......
So you are all for limited governing and individual liberty, the promotion of freedom and basic inalienable human rights unless, what? That individual is gay?
Perverts? Send them off to do our fiercest fighting?
Shame on you.
Actually it is an appropriate response given the misguided effort to keeping them off the front lines as some are suggesting...due to health concerns, blood, and % of AIDS/Hep rates among sodomites.
While it is reasonable and understandable that soldiers wouldn’t want to be exposed to the risk in battle situations, I think units composed strictly of infected blood carriers on the front line is far more reasonable than keeping them off the front line entirely.
I am completely against healthy straight fathers and potential family men(our countries future) fighting while sick sodomites come home untouched and protected from the battles our healthy young future risk their lives in....
Most troops don't support the repeal either.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
They know the damage the repeal of DADT will do, have told him,but will he listen; NO.
And yes, you are correct in your statement that the military brass in attendance do not display approval or disapproval of any policy, especially military policy.
Someone once said better than I can recollect that to be anything but a liberal when you are young is to have no heart—but to be anything but a conservative when you mature shows you have no brains. I tried to be a good “progressive” Democrat when I first left the Army. They looked more unified and willing to set aside personal opinion for the good of the Party. Then I saw how their rhetoric did not match reality.
These young sculls full of mush will get some experience and will perhaps regret being so blinded by the Obamanation. We
Americans seem to have a habit of trust- and when the enemy gives us back our scrap iron in bombs -then we get back up and set things right.
