It's bad enough that Rep. Paul Ryan has to follow President Obama. Now the brainy Wisconsin congressman tapped to give the official Republican response to the State of the Union address must also compete for attention with Tea Party star Michele Bachmann.
Bachmann, a third-term Minnesota congresswoman renowned for lobbing rhetorical bombs at her opponents, plans to rebut the president's address in an online broadcast at the Tea Party Express website Tuesday night.
While Ryan's remarks will be carried by all the networks and cable news outlets as they happen, television news outlets have agreed to share a camera to record Bachmann's comments -- and some could choose to air them live.

Too bad we couldn’t have a ‘co-presidency’ where Bachman was one side of the coin and knowledgeable on working Congress and Sarah was the other side of the coin and expert at working the states and foreign relations. I think those two women could actually rescue this dying Republic!
I like michelle bachmann even more than Palin. She is less afraid to take on these scumbags on thei own turf.
I think it’s great that both Bachmann and Ryan are speaking. It doubles the amount of coverage that our side gets. I prefer having America hear 2 conservatives in contrast to the one/Won socialist.
I like the idea of Bachman and Ryan rebutting the butt heads. The more rebuttals the better!

The conservative message can’t be “scrambled” because it’s based on common sense principles and, unlike the libs, not on emotion or on what needs to be said according to polls.
Our message is consistent and I can’t think of two better people to deliver it.
So now Fox MAY CHOSE to air her live?

Bachmann posted a message on Facebook this morning congratulating Ryan on being picked to give the response and saying “he deserved it”.
I bet their responses are almost the same.
With Ryan and Bachmann on task, we are giving them a full court press. I expect some scoring by all.
Why do they (MSM) use incendiary language, “lobbing rhetorical bombs”, when describing opponents of the left but when describing the harsh, mean language from the left they say the left is “ardently standing up” to pressure from the right? I hope she has plans to run for president... she’s got my vote.

Well, I think Michele is a bit too in love with the camera and is stepping on Paul Ryan’s toes unnecessarily (he’s one of the good guys, you know, or do you). However, in some ways it elevates the interest in the Republican response, raises awareness of Ryan’s speech and therefore more will hopefully stick around and watch his rebuttal. The controversy about Ryan/Bachman competing speeches raises interest in both. At least I hope it does.

Ryan doesn’t ‘deserve’ a thing,,, It’s clear that the repubs are moving hard to minimize tea. The repubs think tea will stay after getting dissed for two years. They are badly mistaken,,, this is the repubs last chance.
