Thankfully the law here in GA aka stand your ground allows for self defense rather than submit to an ass kicking by a mob. In NY City you can get more prison time for owning/carrying a pistol without a permit than many get for serious felonies like rape, assault and battery or even manslaughter.
And in NY it is almost impossible for an average citizen to get a pistol permit.
I don't see any hope for improvement in places like LA, NY City, Detroit, etc. They are basically becoming holding pens for people who will not, or can not, mentally evolve past tribal or stone age cultures.
The only solution for decent citizens ir to get out.

Which group is the most violent? I don't say this facetiously at all, but neither.
One group is slow to violence, but if you give them an ideology, war, uniform or the king's consent, they'll stack up bodies like nobody's business.
The other group's violence is impulsive and constant, but thankfully not able to organize well.
All that aside, I am sympathetic to your point though.

Pinging banglist to #30. Please educate PYX on the difference between "lawful/excusable/justifiable homicide, the legal concept of "dispartity of force", and the difference between shall issue CCW, may issue CCW, and Constitutional Carry. Thanks!

Bryan is not advocating murder; he is advocating self-defense and the defense of others, with a secondary goal of staying out of prison. The thing he advocates is a noble act and completely moral. As a grown up and a FReeper, you are expected to know the difference between that and murder.
Couldn't have said it better! Thanks for watching my back! FReegards! ....not sure if we are dealing with a grown up though.....

RE: #68:
You posters who dont live in areas where there is an inner city ghetto thug population have NO CLUE WHERE WE ARE HEADING. We are 4 weeks away from civil war in this country at any time if the benes and welfare ever gets cut off to these people. A cop friend of mine told me he govt does not mind all the drugs in this countr since it keeps so many of these wild animals sedated. Pinging CW2 thread, (AKA the day the entitlement checks stop)!

Maybe in a gangster movie. But in real life, one of the thuggettes would just pick up the gun and come after you.You assume too much. I never said I'd drop a loaded gun. BTW...when in DC and NYC, I carry a 5 shot revolver that I bought at a gunshow with cash, before I lost it in a canoe accident. Sheesh. How is that for real life?

I’m guessing no one in the place had a legal firearm, or if they did they were afraid to use it (after all it is NY). If another customer or employee had waded into those animals and used a pocket knife, large metal spatula, etc., to defend the victim, I wonder if the police would commend them or haul them in? I was unable to get the original link so I don’t know if anyone actually tried to stop it.

Actually, I don't think it's the "shoot" part that has created the stir - I think it's the "drop gun, walk away" part that was interpreted as something other than proudly defending yourself.
I'M assuming you simply meant that as "task finished, move on"...but I could see how it could be taken as "get rid of weapon, leave before investigation". Just sayin'.

These scum are like jackals and wild dogs that need to be put down.

Attempting to evade and conceal a murder is NOT a Constitutional right.Protecting someone on the wrong end of a Reckless Endangerment/Attempted Murder activity is not murder.

Visit a small, rural Southern town and you’ll find the same kind of thing. If you’re really brave, visit the local public schools, it’s frightening!!
This morning, a radio station from Columbia,SC was running an ad alerting people to “pack robberies”, advising people not to go to ATMs at night and to avoid areas where groups of young people can be seen hanging around.
Excuse me, why do I have to change what I’m doing because a segment of our society refuses to behave in a civilized manner??

To render greater public service, this “news” item needs to be more demographically descriptive.

Make sure you unload it first (speed unload). Oh, and unload your backup magazine as well.
