T. PETERSBURG - Three law enforcement officers were shot this morning – a U.S. Marshal and two St. Petersburg police officers – in the 3700 block of 28th Avenue South, police said.
A suspected gunman is barricaded in a home at 3726 28th St. S., and police are trying to negotiate with his family members. He is still shooting at police, officers said.
One of the injured officers had been in the home as well, but an armored vehicle knocked down the door and the officer was evacuated. That officer has been taken to Bayfront Medical Center.

There was a cop killed last week in Detroit.
Channel 13 reported US Marshal stable, 2 St. Pete PD critical. Suspect hid in attic, shots fired, one wounded St. Pete officer was still in attic with suspect, used armored personell carrier to punch hole in house and extract wounded officer, lots of shots fired in rescue and no contact from suspect since rescue, suspect may have been wounded, killed or just laying in wait. Hundreds of officers on scene, nobody left in house but suspect. He had extensive violent criminal history.

So are crimes against convenience store clerks, taxi drivers, pizza deliver drivers and other individuals.

It’s typical to publicize every shooting everywhere when FedGov is contemplating new gun control laws.
When the Assault Weapons Ban was being worked, you’d have thought a war was going on, there were so many “assault weapon” stories in the news.
I expect AWB2, mag restrictions, ammo restrictions. I don’t think they’l push the “no concealed weapons within Garand range of a politician”, but we’ll see.
There could actually be an increase in events, but it’s more likely to be a public relations push.

I can’t speak to anywhere, but Illinois. Our County government along with the State government abandoned mental institutions and set the insane free. This may be the trend across the nation as liberalism metastasizes.
I tend toward liberty in all things, but one legitimate function of government is caring for the seriously mentally ill who cannot be cared for by themselves or their families.
All our homeless are made up of the insane and chronic drug/alcohol abusers. The latter are likely a subset that is simply self-medicating.
