The World from The Hill: U.N. funding an early target for House Republicans

A key House Republican is quickly pressing forward with her goals to scale back U.S. funding for the United Nations.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told The Hill that oversight would be a key function of the panel, particularly funding to the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) that is "a waste of taxpayer dollars."

Just when I gave up hope. The U. N. needs to be audited and when it is shown they waste money we give them we should cease all funding.

I know. I thought this very thing but I wanted some hope today.
The GOP will say they cut them off of millions and in the end we give them billions. I think it is an appeasement so the tea party shuts up.

Not only would I defund the UN completely, I would also resign from the UN as a country and then give the remaining occupants thirty days to move to another country.

The U.S. contributes more to the UN than any other country -- 22 percent of the regular UN budget and 27 percent of the peacekeeping budget.

Time for other countries, like China, to take on more of the burden.

Here's a thought: Since we own the building and the land at the UN building, how about having that our contribution and the rest of the world put up the rest of the money. Or at the least charge them a heavy rent every month.
