On his daily radio and television shows, Glenn Beck has elevated once-obscure conservative thinkers onto best-seller lists. Recently, he has elevated a 78-year-old liberal academic to celebrity of a different sort, in a way that some say is endangering her life.
Frances Fox Piven, a City University of New York professor, has been a primary character in Mr. Beck’s warnings about a progressive take-down of America. Ms. Piven, Mr. Beck says, is responsible for a plan to “intentionally collapse our economic system.”
Her name has become a kind of shorthand for “enemy” on Mr. Beck’s Fox News Channel program, which is watched by more than 2 million people, and on one of his Web sites, The Blaze. This week, Mr. Beck suggested on television that she was an enemy of the Constitution.
Never mind that Ms. Piven’s radical plan to help poor people was published 45 years ago, when Mr. Beck was a toddler. Anonymous visitors to his Web site have called for her death, and some, she said, have contacted her directly via e-mail.
In response, a liberal nonprofit group, the Center for Constitutional Rights, wrote to the chairman of Fox News, Roger Ailes, on Thursday to ask him to put a stop to Mr. Beck’s “false accusations” about Ms. Piven.
“Mr. Beck is putting Professor Piven in actual physical danger of a violent response,” the group wrote.
Fox News disagrees. Joel Cheatwood, a senior vice president, said Friday that Mr. Beck would not be ordered to stop talking about Ms. Piven on television. He said Mr. Beck had quoted her accurately and had never threatened her.
“ ‘The Glenn Beck Program,’ probably above and beyond any on television, has denounced violence repeatedly,” Mr. Cheatwood said.

I think that the NY Times is missing something crucial to this story.
IF Ms. Pivens received DEATH THREATS, then the people who sent her the death threats have broken the law and they should be apprehended.
Why haven't the police been notified about these alleged death threats????
AND... why isn't the NY Times curious about same???

When the Constitution becomes threatened, it will be the Mormon Church which acts as a “White Horse” which will come to the rescue and save the Constitution.

Also everyone forgets Cloward and Piven almost brought NY City to it's knees financially. Who was it that told them No, ( it wasn't that polite :-)) Jerry Ford or Nelson Rockerfeller?
The fact that this young writer doesn't know about NY's former financial crisis by Cloward-Piven strategy to bankrupt it also is a another screed on how this once grand paper is now lining material for the parrots cage....
Most people who describe themselves as ‘liberal’ don’t know beans about the commie left movement and their destroy America agenda. You can find this out immediately by talking to them. They are simply too stupid and/or naive to have that kind of awareness and ability to understand. They just believe everything they see and hear from the leftist media. They think the commie connections are manufactured by the right.
Ford told them to “drop dead”(maybe worse in private). But I believe that got a federal bailout later on anyway.
They just don’t “feel” any danger from them.
I can just imagine how some pointy-headed Manhattan lib would react to Granny Fox Piven in person. They would regard her as totally harmless based on “feelings.”
Don't get me started.... Who is the bigger scammer, Gates with basically stolen or hijacked stuff that sort of runs and becomes the std platform, or Apple who is a for of Unix , sprinkled with elitism, that has you coming and going with a series of products that do not do all in one when to me hardware wise it would be easy to do.

Catholics and protestants are all Christians; we differ in how to interpret God’s word, but it is the same Word.
Mormons and muslims have a different Word that Christians cannot abide.

“Dr.” Piven has been dispensing her mad theories from the safe, rarified ivy towers of Academia for years. I can’t imagine anyone as insolated from the chaos she advocates. Now, Mr. Beck has turned he spotlight on her and she cries unfair. Tough. It is well past time that Piven starts reaping the whirlwind of her ideas.
But I don't understand why the LDS would even think of backing way from Joesph Smith prophecy?

I support Glenn Beck in his work to defend American ideals.
But I it is hard to trust him.
If he were to “question with boldness” his mormonism, he wold immediately abandon it.
