- We wanted democracy, and now we get less and less responsibility. We wanted national integrity and territorial sovereignty, and we have control from Brussels. We wanted a free market, and we got the social market. We went one way, after the fall of the communist system, and after two decades of this, we go another. It is a disappointment for all the countries that broke free of communism, said Klaus. As noted, the current radical changes in the EU must be a cause for concern throughout Europe.
He yesterday met with Serbian President Boris Tadic, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, before signing his book in the Official Gazette held a lecture at Serbian Academy Of Science.
He was lecturing "Review of Czech and Serbian transformation" and stressed that Europe forgets what lies behind the centuries of its development, adding that he hoped that Serbia would become, an important European player. According to him, the Czech Republic fully supports Serbia's path towards the EU, and it will certainly be admitted to the "European club". However, he stressed that the requirements of the EU future members, as well as the whole European system "go beyond the vision of society which we have striven nineties.
Ping!
Vaclav Klaus, in my opinion, is Europe’s John Adams.
It seems that Europe (as in the EU) has fallen for the notion that to avoid war and tyranny(as in a repeat of WW1 and WW2), all national boundaries need to be dissolved, all local control handed over to a centralized control freak in Brussels doling out “one size fits all” “solutions”, with the result of being stuck with a “soft” tyranny of over regulation and political correctness. The result is a lack of economic freedom, which Vaclav Klaus would agree. A loose trade agreement is about as far as the EU should go for it to work. But EU wide regulations on peanut butter (just as one absurd example)? No wonder the EU members that were formerly part of the Soviet empire are revolting. It’s a case of “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”.
Ten years ago Larry Kudlow referred to the Euro as the “Europeso”, as in a currency in trouble. His prediction may become true.
Vaclav Klaus is probably the sanest leader in the world.
We already had a Kenyan Muslim Socialist as President....why not a Non-Statist Czech as US President? He acts more of an American than most of the Liberal RINO GOP planning to run....
What Klaus has said about the EU.....holds so true for the US regarding NAFTA, Free Trade with Communist China, UN, WTO, and other International Statist organizations
you nailed it.
I’d vote for a Vaclav Klaus / Geert Wilders ticket.
Am still waiting for Beck to apologize for his comments about Wilders.
President Klaus is probably the ONLY rational political leader in the entire free world.
He is the only politician I know who sees the world as it was and the way it should be based on the notion that statism, under it many guises, is immoral and doesn’t work.
Klaus is truly all you say...and you say it very well!
He was right on Kosovo Georgia and Russia too!
He’s right on most everything.
