They dont like the truth, so they summarily dismiss it, he says. They say its a government takeover of health care a big lie. Just like Goebbels. You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually people believe it. Like blood libel, he said, pounding his fist on the dais.
Thats the same kind of thing. The Germans said enough about the Jews and the people believed it and you had the Holocaust. You tell a lie over and over again. And weve heard it on this floor government takeover of health care.
... There is no government takeover, he said.
Cohens reference to blood libel follows former Alaska governor Sarah Palins use of the term to describe attacks on her from left-leaning pundits after the Tucson massacre earlier this month.

Somebody needs to ask Cohen what he’d call it if a President (say someone like Obama) for months told the nation the insurance mandate was decidedly *not* a tax, and then after the healthcare bill passed, argued forcefully in court that the insurance mandate was constitutional because it definitely *was* a tax.
It’s pretty obvious they’re using the “big lie” technique with the “pre-existing conditions” issue.
Insurance companies don’t drop you for getting sick. This is what the ‘rats are implying.
Nor do they deny you coverage for a “pre-existing condition” if you were previously covered.
Of course, 'these folks' pay no attention to that which they put forth per required 'civil dictums'. They know this is a 'silencing' MO for their opposition and certainly not meant to silence the Leftist perps themselves. . .
No mention of the southern democrats and the KKK.
More vitriolic speech from the Democrats.
DemonRATs now blubbering about “civility”. Well, I’m just roflmao. What a joke.
Wow I go to check the local news and the post explodes
News 5 has NO mention of Cohen’s remarks.

But, by all means: let’s have Republicans and Democrats sit together during the State of the Union address and hold hands and sing “kumbayah” for the cameras.
It’s not his first open mouth and insert foot moment.
Dem. Rep. Steve Cohen (TN) I submit to you, Mr. Speaker, that the parties have differences. But if you want change, you want the Democratic Party. Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Lawmaker: ‘Thank God’ Bush is gone
July 22, 2010,
There are many Democrats and at least a few Republicans on Capitol Hill who say they’re glad former President George W. Bush is no longer in office, but Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) this week went one step further: He thanked the Almighty for it.
Cohen took to the House floor on Tuesday, where he delivered remarks titled “Thank God Bush is Gone.”
Cohen blamed the 43rd president for the financial crisis, calling him “Hoover George Bush,” after former president Herbert Hoover.
“Now all [people] can say is Bush is gone,” Cohen said, “Nobody can defend him.”
The lawmaker took a few more swipes at the former president over tax cuts and the Iraq war before concluding, “Now all they can say is that he’s gone. Thank God he’s gone.

Won’t happen. Bohener won’t do it to uncivil and petty. The big thing that comes out of this is it is all over the airways in Memphis, and will be on the evening talk show...BTW start sending it to RUSH! One of us could get through.
With cohen that’s the only kind he does. He used the Giffords shooting to say he’s going to get a handgun permit. Forgetting he has to do the safety course, the FBI & TBI background checks and that takes about 3 months, and prove he’s a US Citizen. You can’t snap your fingers and get one, not even if you are a congresscritter.
The come back will have to come from RUSH. It will not come from the Speaker of the House. So start emailing it to RUSH.
I already did, but it takes multiple ones to get through.
In my opinion, the Kapos all reside on the Left and in this Regime starting with their God, Soros. All Goebbel’s-style propaganda flows out of this Regime and morons like this one. Talking about the pot calling the kettle what?
If they voted on a bill they never read, how can they comment on it whatsoever? If they do claim it's a good bill, ask them to outline the ten largest cost aspects of the law and how they benefit the taxpayer?
Clinton tactics. You accuse your opponent of what you are doing. You do it with outrage and anger. This insulates you from being asked about your position or comments on any related subject or matter. The media and left fall for it every time.
As a practical matter, ObamaCare is a Federal government takeover of health care. It mandates coverage - enforced by the Federal government. It creates dozens of new government bureaucracies that will control coverages, pricing, and delivery systems through the power to issue rules and regulations as they see fit. The purpose is to drive private insurers out of business - and it will, without a doubt - because it destroys their business model.
When companies are legally enjoined from using actuarial science to set insurance rates, or from offering different tiers of coverage based upon both science and experience - they are no longer in the "insurance" business. Unless we overturn ObamaCare, we will be left with only government "insurance", and those who accuse Republicans of lying about it are themselves guilty of dissembling.
The only way to bring back civility is to return to the “Code Duello”.
With CODE DUELLO you very carefully weigh each word before you spout off.
They can all bite me.
If there were only a few idiots like this one we might stand a chance. The fact that these nuts are being elected in a conservative state is reason to believe that America is totally and utterly $$%&$*&^%!
