What? Gervais published a letter on Christmas of why he is an atheist, some role model

I might’ve watched the Globes had I known he was going to skewer those hypocritical, thin-skinned, self-righteous Hollywood twits.
The silliest thing about this whole hulabaloo is that Gervais’ routine consisted, at heart, of tire, old jokes. Well worded and delivered, perhaps, but old jokes nonetheless.
Charlie Sheen is sleezy? Tom Cruise is gay? Robert Downey, Jr. did drugs? The Sex and the City ladies are old? The fat guy from Lost is fat? How dare he! I’ve never heard such gall. Except, that is, on every episode ever of Leno, Letterman, Conan, The Daily Show, The Soup, etc. Either the golden Globes isn’t the loose, swingin’ get-together we’ve been led to believe, or Hollywood types are remarkably sheltered and ignorant.
I notice they replay these award shows over and over again. This one I have only seen replayed once.
We see a lot more of him here in the UK. The guy’s a complete tit.
The sad thing is that he wasn’t conservative, he wasn’t liberal he was just funny.
It is a sad sign of the state of the liberal media and Hollywood when an equal-opportunity roast is considered right-wing.

Just watched his monologue—wow, they really didn’t like the Scientology/homosexual joke. If all those who vocalized their displeasure are Scientologists, Hollywood is overrun, at least in its “upper” echelon.
The Audience Screamed with Laughter over the Mel Gibson jokes! Didn’t hear anybody complaining in defense of Mel! Not that I like Gibson because I think he is a joke with the way he has behaved but Hollywood hated his take on Christianity, etc.
Conservatives I know aren’t big fans of awards shows.
Well they obviously missed his finally remarks.

Conservatives are not “rallying around” Gervais. They are just delighted that someone took on the pompous asses that inhabit Hollywood to their faces and pointed out what hypocrites they are.
For the record, I’ve never found anything that Gervais did remotely funny other than this and the scene in one of his Extras shows involving Daniel Radcliffe, Diana Rigg and a condom.

Gervais is certainly no friend to conservatives, so any politically-motivated affinity for the man will be short lived. That said, it was kind of amusing to see him mock Hollywood at the Golden Globes.
