Dragnet.
Unlike you, I do not know how God works, I just have a belief.
If that is what He really said, then I believe it was the truth for Christians.
Obviously, I believe it can be both.
Just because you believe something, does not make it true or logical.
That is the problem with Universalism, logical fallacies.
Truth is absolute, not relative. If it were, then Liberals would be just as ‘right’ as conservatives. Liberalism must be ‘true’ for them. Right?
I’m sorry ,but you must have me confused with someone else.
The Bible tells us how God works. It isn’t my personal knowledge, it is because the Bible says so.
I gave up the idea of ‘personal revelation’ over the Bible when I left Mormonism.
I was responding to Stuartcr, and commenting on your comment with MrB.
“Personal revelation” just means defining God, morality, right and wrong, and good and evil for yourself as you judge to be fit.
Somewhere I read something about a famous personage saying we could do this...
oh, yeah, Genesis 3:5. Satan. “you will be as gods, knowing good and evil”
Far more often than not that is exactly what it amounts to.
Do I believe God can speak to me through His word? Of course, but if what I believe counters the Bible then it is not from God.
That’s what I’ve said as well.
It doesn’t matter how strongly I believe something.
If the Bible contradicts my belief, _I_ am wrong. It’s not.
That’s what “ultimate authority” means.
Yes, I know. Since I could be either right or wrong or in-between, I go with what I believe God put in me. I don’t believe what we are limited to with human logic, can be applied to understanding God though.
I believe truth as we know it, is only absolute to the individual.
And, as a believer in the bible, I’m sure that’s good for you.
Exactly. It was a lesson I had to learn in a very painful way.
I will pray for you, you have no idea how deadly your views are.
It really is sad, to go thorough life with no absolutes.
I guess for you and those that need absolutes to apply to everyone, it could be sad. Although I don’t know why.
As I said, I believe we all have absolutes, it’s just that they are individual. Thanks for the prayers though.
As I said, I believe we all have absolutes, its just that they are individual.

So, liberalism is just as valid as conservatism? It is just individual absolutes right?
Abortion is ok? Murder? Stealing? Satanism?
.
Umm... have you ever read a book on logic?
I am no universalist.
You seem to have a chip on your shoulder
. Paul tells us if a man be overtaken in a fault to restore such a one in a spirit of meekness considering yourself lest you also be tempted .I agree there are many false and heretical doctrines out there. In this I agree with John Locke
“Everyman thinks he is orthodox”
On a good day I see through a glass darkly.Any man who say’s he doesn’t sin is a liar and the truth is not in him.I get it wrong often.
2Ti 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
Let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
Paul the Apostle
I do know Jesus is the way
1Co 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.
1Co 16:23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
I know you are not a universalist. Stuart apparently is, and he was the first one in the reply.
I was agreeing with you. No chip at all. We are on the same side.
I don’t know what the people that commit those acts think. To me they aren’t ok.
