Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said, I doubt that I will be there in January.
We have to sit there like the proverbial potted plant, Alito said, and provoked howls of laughter from the crowd when he deadpanned that the justices who are more disciplined refrain from manifesting any emotional opinion whatsoever.
It was a self-deprecating remark; in January, as he sat near the podium during Obamas speech in the Capitol, Justice Alito was affronted by the presidents charge that the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections.
Videotape of the event shows Alito wincing, then apparently saying, thats simply not true. Directly behind Alito, Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Senate Democratic Caucus vice chairman Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., the second and third ranking Democrats in the Senate, gleefully took to their feet and cheered as Alito and the five other justices in attendance remained seated, looking uncomfortably intimidated.

Well staying home isn’t the answer. It never has been.
Justice Alito is doing exactly the right thing.
That is fine. I believe the liberals believe that too.
How can you answer yes to question #1 and ignore question #2?
Wait, Roberts swore in abamao....
Good for Alito. This highlights Obama’s lack of civility at an opportune time.
I think the republicans should sit in the back of the room. You know, all “back of the bus”.
**We are far past the point of defeated left wing corruption and stupidity through civilized means.**
DITTO!!!!!!
Am so happy to know that he will not attend.
Hope he sticks to his earlier decision.
>> The R&D seating arrangements are meant to be a distraction from the bigger snub going to happen...
Then he could walk out.
First of all, the republicans would have to get some courage somewhere.
Second....I guess there is no “second”.
That’s the job of the electoral college...
Excellent! A man who says what he means and means what he says!
Why listen to iWon. Ipecac is readily available.
“Good for him! I really like Alito.”
Gotta like him after he says stuff like that.
None of them should attend.
“I think he should go there and fight. Say you lie or your illegal President or whatever, but dont be cowardly.”
Uh, can you spell “impeached”?
Why is it cowardly? The justices have nothing to say or do. Neither does congress for that matter. Bambi has sullied the Presidency and the state of the union speech will be nothing but dirty lies told by the _resident. Why should the justices (or even republican congressmen) lend their own credibility to that lie fest. If I were a congressman the only event for Bambi that I would attend is an impeachment.
Alito’s a good man - we were blessed when he joined the Court.
I don’t blame him. Good!
