A team of 250 federal investigators and 130 local detectives trying to understand why Jared Lee Loughner went on his alleged killing spree has conducted more than 300 interviews with family, friends and neighbors since the shooting. But they remain stumped about what ultimately prompted the 22-year-old's descent into violence.

Investigators have had little success gaining information from either the uncooperative Loughner or his parents, who have told authorities that they had little recent contact with their son, law enforcement sources said.

With so little help coming from the immediate family, investigators are probing associates and witnesses for details that could help them fill out a portrait of Loughner, a task one source described as completing a "jigsaw puzzle."

They are really trying to find that he is really an illegitimate son of Glen Beck, or a distant cousin of Rush.. :P

Hint: Progressive Nihilism with a definite lack of the Ten Commandments.

Should have asked me... He's saying LOOK AT ME!

Did you see his mugshot? He was happier than a pig in slop to have all the attention...

From a legal standpoint, if there is overwhelming evidence to show he fired the shots, how important is it to determine motive absolutely? If they are unable to find a pure motive, does that help an insanity defense? Does motive determine whether or not the charges are brought in a state or federal court?

3 guys with common sense could figure out more about all that went down than 300 DC bureaucrats looking to justify their monthly demands on We the People ever will.

LOL!

DO YOU REALIZE THE SIZE OF THE TAXPAYER MONEY BONFIRE THEY'RE BUILDING?

WHEN ARE THE AMERICAN RUBEPEOPLE GOING TO WAKE UP AND CUT OFF THE FUNDING FOR THESE CRAZED OCD GOVERNMENT WHACKJOBS?

In more sane times, this guy would have already had his neck stretched, for the cost of a rope, and the free services of a sky pilot.

Just think of the OT. Some of them are probably trying to pump up their final yearly pay to get a better retirement check, too...

They need to determine motive by interviewing hundreds of people BECAUSE THEY WANT TO PUMP UP THEIR PAYCHECKS, AND THIS IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT.

None of the RubeAmericans ever ask questions about what police, teachers or firemen are doing, because "it's for the chilren".

One summer a few years ago, I was working at a place that was near the shore of a huge body of water. A guy drowned, and for the next month I would come to work and drive by the parking lot for the boat launch. Every day there would be 5, 6, 7 law enfarcement vehicles parked there from early in the morning to when I left in the evening.

They were all "looking" for the body. Everybody knew that they'd never find him, because of the nature of the lake. Eventually, a commercial vessel coming into port spotted the floater.

The OT/out of the office party was over.

This is a common occurrence in Chicago. I remember one time in particular when some guy tried to get into an apartment building from the alley door and the police were called. The guy was gone before they got there but there were three police cars for hours into the evening and the cops lounging around talking and laughing.

LOL, also add counselors/psychologists employed as well. This case is just more reasons why we have uncontrollable bureaucracies and monumental debt in the Federal and State governments.

120 years ago the perp would have been hanged after a speedy trial aided by multiple eyewitness. The costs, about a week of incarceration, a trial that lasted probably a day and the price of rope (Unless the rope was donated).

What a plum assignment: Overtime for weeks, determine nothing that isn’t completely obvious, don’t have to determine anything, don’t have to rule anything in or out.

I’d settle for the donut franchise.

380 idiots, on OUR dime, trying to find the smallest speck of evidence that could be twisted into a connection with conservatives or the Tea Party.

And don’t forget, the per deim for meals... bet there are some great Mexican restaurants in Tucson (has any smart local put together a Tucson entertainment and dining guide for the influx of investigators with expense accounts?)
