An unfitting end to an illustrious career.
That's how several West Point classmates viewed the New Year's Eve discovery of a prominent defense expert's body in a Wilmington landfill.
Two weeks after Newark, Del., police identified John "Jack" P. Wheeler 3d, 66, of New Castle, as a homicide victim, investigators still have released few particulars about the case, allowing conspiracy theorists of all kinds to draw pictures of their own.
Although the case was deemed a homicide, police have declined to list a cause, raising questions about whether Wheeler was drugged, shot, beaten, or stabbed. New information from police sources suggests he might have stopped taking medication for some sort of medical or mental-health condition.
"We're very disappointed that we've heard nothing," said Doug Thornblom, a retired Army colonel who described his roommate from West Point's Class of 1966 as a kind, respected, passionate patriot.

Randy Loftin, another classmate, said Wheeler's death shocked their tight-knit group.
"This is really off the charts for someone like Jack," Loftin said. "There are few people who would stun us like that, especially the way in which he died. He was a fabulous man, someone who was always watching your back in whatever you were doing."
Newark Police Lt. Mark A. Farrall, a spokesman for the department, declined to say whether detectives had more information and had chosen not to share it, or whether clues were scarce.

Now I know the meme is that he was disoriented and such and of course he could have had some kind of awful health event.
“Disoriented. Isn’t that the term used for justifying the firing of IG Gerald Walpin in May 2009?
Or whoever it was on that video.
Does anyone know for certain that the person on the videos was Wheeler, and not some double?

I believe the silence from the Newark police and close family/friends indicates the case is in the hands of the federal gov’t (FBI or CIA).
It seems possible that he was in that house for some time when he bug-bombed it, was poisoned therein, then became increasingly disoriented as he was seen in these various places, finally to the point where he crawled into this dumpster and died.
It does seem to fit at least the initial lines.

It seems odd that Wheeler would have been given all those important positions through out the years if he had serious mental problems. It just does not add up.
You’re already on, MissDGVT!
Aknother very familiar cover up. Thank you for the heads up.
*placemarker bump*
There is no earthly reason for him to have put rodent eradication smoke bombs in the house under construction.
Crawled into a dumpster??
Have you read other threads about this a lot?
Ping.
But such a psychiatric background would seem inconsistent with his biography. He simply wouldn't qualify for the supersensitive jobs he has held.
There is a possibility that the existence of a severe psychiatric problem was thrown out as an intentional "red herring" in the case.

I´ve read a fair amount, yes. I´m merely guessing - as is everyone else at this point - based on what seems the most consistent fit with the evidence as it´s known.
Pardon me.
Wasn't there snow on the ground? Is I fall down in the snow there is not dirt on my clothes but snow which just melts and leaves a wet spot that dries. Only if he falls in an area where there is loose ground or mud will it adhere to the cloths and stay there when dry. So where did his clothes come into contact with dirt? And won't the FBI labs be able to tell by matching exactly where that location was?
Sorry, but the manufacturer didn't provide HMIS® data for that product. And you're right--it doesn't have unusual fire or explosion hazard--it's usual ones. As that MSDS states, water, foam, or CO2 can be used to extinguish the product.
I bet some folks here will recognize the top components of the Revenge Rodent Smoke Bomb and know what other product is composed of
No reports of such activity. The silence from authorities about this case is deafening in an era when everyone calls a news conference for almost any reason.
Family are not talking, but some of his friends are. You could be right. Amazing that it's going on three weeks since Wheeler was found dead, and there still hasn't been any update from authorities.
Possible, although crawling into a commercial dumpster is not likely. One would have to climb up into it, and that's not a simple thing even for someone in good physical condition.
You're welcome. :)
