Tucson victim arrested for tea party threat: 'you're dead'

PHOENIX — One of the Arizona shooting victims was arrested today and then taken for a psychiatric evaluation after authorities said he took a picture of a tea party leader at televised town hall meeting and yelled: "you're dead."

James Eric Fuller, 63, objected to something Trent Humphries said during the forum taped for a special edition of ABC's "This Week" with Christiane Amanpour, Pima County sheriff's spokesman Jason Ogan said. Fuller was in the front row and apparently became upset when Humphries suggested that any conversations about gun control should be delayed until all the dead were buried, KGUN-TV in Tucson reported.

Fuller was arrested on misdemeanor disorderly conduct and threat charges, Ogan said. While Fuller was being escorted out, deputies decided he needed a mental health evaluation and he was taken to a hospital, where he remained this evening.

The hospital will determine when he will be released, Ogan said.

Fuller was one of 19 people shot at a Safeway store Jan. 8. Six people died and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remains in critical condition with a bullet wound to the head.

Fuller described the shootings as "a bad crime drama" in an interview on CBS' "The Early Show." He said he felt a bullet that hit his knee but didn't know he had also been struck in the back. Fuller, a naval air veteran, drove himself to Northwest Hospital after being shot, according to the Arizona Daily Star. He was later taken to University Medical Center where he was released two days later.

Dirtbag propogandist Whorealdo Rivera reported this as a "death threat by a confirmed liberal, believe it or not."

Very easy to believe, Gerry. The left is behind 99% of all non-Muslim political violence in this country.

Just how does a man that was shot twice just a week ago get around so well?

Ahhh, behold the power of a 9mm bullet, /s

I said here on FR before, I thank God that the lunatic wasn’t using a .45ACP, .40S&W, .357MAG or a number of other rounds much more potent than an anemic 9mm or there would have easily been a dozen or more dead, including I fear the gentlewoman from AZ.

One other thing, had this guy been shot with a .45ACP in the knee, he would be getting around on a prosthetic right now.

I load mine with 230 grain Hydro-Shok bullets ‘cause I care enough to send the very best.

Not disputing what you say, but this guy may only have received grazes or flesh wounds anyway.

This one makes Sheehan look downright sane.

Of course, this threat of violence will receive muted reporting from the MSM.

Had the Tea Party leader been the one making the threat, it would be headline news for the next two weeks.

Not disputing [that the 9mm is anemic], but this guy may only have received grazes or flesh wounds anyway.

Absolutely on-target (;{J) - placement is critical.

Not counting battlefield engagements, the "wimpy" .22 has probably killed more people with one shot than any other caliber.

No newswriter is going to play down injuries with a word like, "grazed" when sexy words like "struck", "wounded", "casualty", "impact" help pump up the readers' vicarious thrill.

Quite possibly he was only superficially wounded. It hurts like hell to get shot no matter what type of round it is and it will carry fabric from the clothing into the wound with it increasing the odds of infection.

Odds are the shooter was using cheap hard-ball ammo or full metal jacket that wouldn’t expand but pass right through. Still, it would have taken me off my feet for a couple of days, especially it hit something important, like say an artery.

If he had used a .45 ACP, this story would have been MUCH different. Very thankfully, most punks like Loughner don’t really understand the physics at work here.

“Last week, Politico reported, he blamed Sarah Palin, Fox TV host Glenn Beck and former Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle for the tragedy.”

What an idiot!! We know it was Rush Limbaugh who did everything but pull the trigger. He needs to read up on the talking points. LOL.

I like this guy’s comment at the article. He’s basically saying that we need to take the OFFENSIVE.

The dialogue these days is too civil when:
I have to work until July before all of my taxes and “fees” are paid and I actually get to keep the money I earn
Our borders remain porous and dangerous illegals stream into the country
We sit idly by and let lunatics acquire nuclear weapons
Gangs terrorize innocents in places like E. St. Louis
Public schools produce graduates that are barely numerate or literate
Wildcat class action settlements are paid to lawyers that drive costs up for everyone
The deranged are allowed to walk the streets and shoot congresspeople because liberals decided long ago that the occasional tragedy was acceptable compared to commitment

No, there needs to be even tougher language in our debates.

I remember from the reports that Fuller walked (walked!) out of the engagement area.

Not only will reporters prefer to use the punchy language: they will be sure from now on to use prose that amplifies the heroism and toughness of their new found spokesman.

YES!

Being eternally on the defensive really sucks. We need to stop the libs from putting us there by doing some preemptory strikes.

Let the RNC do a big media buy exposing all the leftist remarks which have created a toxic political atmosphere.

When the Dems do something corrupt, get it out in the open.

Of course, since the LSM won’t help us, getting publicity for our message will cost money...I know nobody likes talking about that but we need to give in order to get the message out to the general public and not just to political junkies like us.

It could also have been a ricochet, or the bullet could have passed thru something else before getting to him. If he moves around as much as this guy did, it wasn’t a very solid hit from ANY bullet. Anyone who doubts that can come by and let me shoot them in the knee with my 22 revolver...

I wonder if Fuller was perhaps engaging in the cheesy street theater that liberals like so much, as in “if this camera were a gun you’d be dead” thereby “proving” the need for gun control.

Whether he was or not, that may be the excuse the libs will use.
