This talk by Professor Hawking is a unique opportunity to see him in person and be immersed in his minds world.
Stephen Hawking will give a free talk entitled My Brief History on Tuesday, January 18, at 8:00 p.m. in Caltechs Beckman Auditorium.
Stephen Hawking is the Director of Research in the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge.
Professor Hawking has given the world insights into the birth of the universe, the deaths of black holes, and the future of the human race. His worldwide bestseller A Brief History of Time is a landmark in science writing. He did much of his seminal research on black holes during a yearlong visit to Caltech in 1974-75. Since 1992, Caltech has been Hawkings home away from home; he spends about a month each year here (thanks to Fairchild Foundation support), carrying out research and exchanging ideas with Caltech faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students.
This talk by Professor Hawking is intended for a general audience, and is a unique opportunity to see him in person and be immersed in his minds world.
This event is open to the public, free of charge, and no tickets are required. Parking for Beckman Auditorium is located at 332 South Michigan Avenue, Pasadena (south of Del Mar Boulevard). For further information, call the Caltech Ticket Office at (626) 395-4652.
An heir to Isaac Newton's position as Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, Mr. Hawking will give his annual talk at CalTech. Those interested in attending will want to arrive very early. There will also be a video feed to a nearby hall and an audio feed outside the auditorium.
Bethca’ $10 he won’t use teleprompters. Although, he might use those cheat sheets I loaned him.
I would love to talk with this guy.
I have a theory on Gravity Waves I’d love to get his insight on......
Betcha’ $20. :^)
Technically, I guess his voice synth will be doing the speaking, won’t it? Kinda like what the TOTUS does for Barry.
Whether you believe that a black hole is a gravitational singularity or an electro-magnetic phenomenon in a local plasma field, you will want to attend this talk by this cultural icon and rock star of theoretical physics.
Betcha his is the updated model that has eliminated the need for so many "um, hmm, uh" and time wasting phrases such as "let me be clear."
meh, just another darwinist athiest.
“...Stephen Hawking to Speak...”

False advertising.
.................. time wasting phrases such as “let me be clear.”.......................
This will certainly be a “teachable moment”!
I am certain there will be no telepromters on stage with Hawking. He doesn’t hesitate to take questions and he doesn’t obsfucate with a blizzard of words when things get tough. Nor does he control the composition of his audience. However, his prepared “remarks” will have been created in advance.
This will be SRO for a quarter-mile radius, circles.
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. (Einstein)
“meh, just another darwinist athiest.”
Yeah, nothing interesting here. Just stuff like stunningly thrilling thoughts, hypotheses, observations and proofs on the known outer limits of the infinite glory of G-d’s creation.
But hey, the guy doesn’t even go to your Church, right? He must be evil, or at least a fool.
I’m a hugh fan of dark humor.
“Ah, bless his heart. But he is clean and articulate!”
LOL, brilliant narrative.
