I know many of you will disagree with this opinion. And let me be clear: I oppose Obama unreservedly on his socialist policies. But unlike the left, I look on substance and not personalities. For example, if a legislator advocates for strong enforcement of the borders, it's a good move regardless of whether there is an R or a D after their name. Ditto helping the military in the theatre of war and at home. And I oppose Peter King's gun stance while I approve of nearly every everything else on his agenda. Labels aren't important to me. Actions are.

So if this president delivers a good speech that honors the slain and the heroes that ran into harm's way to save their fellow Americans, I (and Glenn Beck, apparently) feel like it's appropriate to give credit where credit is due despite how fiercely I oppose Obama's legislation.

Contrast this with the automatic hateful knee-jerks of the left who baselessly tie the heinous shooting to Sarah and (most absurd of all) Glenn Beck himself.

Like I say, I know many of you will disagree with my (and Beck's) opinion here. Hopefully not to the point of being zotted :-). I feel like we are strong enough to debate this amongst ourselves. And believe you me I will still be actively involved in making sure the new Congress sticks to the job they were elected by US to do... bring this country back to its sane roots.

God bless you all and God bless America.

Obama gave a “Trojan Horse” performance and Beck is among those fooled by it.

Obama truly was ...

’ ... many of you will disagree with this opinion. And let me be clear: ..”

You’re even parroting his annoying speech patterns. I pointed out to my better half that even in his attempt to be `presidential’ he still had that (modified) Mussolini chin-jut.
It is important to keep in mind what was drilled into him during his Chicago days: “The issue is not the issue: the issue is the revolution.”
This performance wasn’t about acting like a president or about the tragedy in Tucson. It was about advancing his agenda.
This isn’t about your perspicacity either. Like most conservatives, you are a decent person and you want to believe the best about people and give them the benefit of the doubt, and so forth and so on.
Obama, Clinton and all the disciples of Alinsky are doing what they do for one reason: to gain political power. He is in campaign mode. For the socialists (”progressives” whatever they want to call themselves) this is war. It is war upon our country and everything we hold dear.
Don’t let them fool you again.

I can appreciate what you are saying and I agree with most of
your sentiments , but,
I think the speech and the man delivering it were discordant.
The right speech delivered by the wrong guy.
The written text of Obama’s speech was actually very nice
and much better than I expected.
If Ronald Reagan had delivered this speech , we would have probably given him rave reviews.
Barry seems to have gotten an adult speech writer instead of the usual 22 yr olds .
A quick read of the text and I didn’t see any of the typical “ I ‘s “ and “ me “s
and self glorifying references Barry usually makes,
so this was also a first.
I could only take about 20 seconds of the actual delivery because that is my tolerance level for all things Obama.
His delivery seemed like he was trying to fake emotion, instead of actually feeling it.
And it was blatantly hypocritical of Barry
to lecture about civility .
The guy who disrespects the conservative Supreme Court Justices ,
to their faces,
at a State of the Union address is the last person to talk about civility.
And the audience made the Wellstone crowd look respectful.
His unscripted remarks about the specifics of Gabby Gifford’s medical condition, as he allegedly witnessed,
were inappropriate ,
not the public’s business and seemed creepily Messiahlike.
And may have been fabricated.
So, even with new speech writers, Barry’s real personality will sneak into any occasion.
This was a very nice speech on paper,
unfortunately delivered by one of the nastiest, most dishonest and craven politicians of our time.
So, an A for the message and an F for the messenger.

if you want to hear how a memorial speech is done, view Bush after 9/11. The pretender in chief zero is just a performer. Sometimes he hits his lines but there is no soul in there

You suffer from Stockholm Syndrome caused by the media and TV. Obama and his media pals are 100% behind destroying Palin. This includes CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and Fox plus Bloomberg. This speech was the start of campaign 2012. Some of you people have no clue. Conditioned and brainwashed by recovering alcoholics and porn addicted disc jockeys like Glenn Beck. Yeah - he is our friend.

Glenn Beck would have been more creditable if he had contrasted the ‘presidential’ appearance and oratory between the Tucson killings and the Ft.Hood killings. I somehow get the feeling Beck is more into political mantra than military contributions.

Glenn Beck on AZ Memorial: Obama Truly Was the President of the United States of America

Yeah, yeah, too bad the other 1,460 days count towards that as well.

with all due respect to JR and the Fresno lads, threads like this prove once again that FR is not all that culturally conservative sadly and though the average freeper is more informed than the average voter they are still not up to speed and strive to give what they percieve as the right answer..the only that will not get them in trouble.

Conservatism is about one thing.

Truth..whether God given or empirical.

I posted this in another thread. It's relevant here:

A true statesman exits the stage leaving the privacy of understanding and the personal connectivity held to the victims intact and without recognition of himself.

The press’ review of Obama’s performance is a testament to the opportunism seized.

Don't put much stock in the obligatory credit given to POTUS. While the One may take the credit, Conservative kudos were but for the good Citizens of the Country.
