A new national study among 1,437 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that Americans indicated that Sarah Palin was more sincere and believable after viewing her speech in response to the shootings in Tucson.

The study was conducted during January 13-14 by HCD Research and reported on its MediaCurves.com® website, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of Sarah Palin after viewing a video of a speech she gave in response to the shootings in Tucson.

Respondents were asked to rate Sarah Palin on a scale from 1-7 regarding likeability, believability and sincerity, with 1 representing “not at all strong in this attribute” and 7 representing “extremely strong in this attribute.”

With the exception of likeability among Democrats, Palin’s attribute ratings increased among all parties after viewing her speech. The most notable increase was her sincerity ratings, which increased from 2.62 to 2.69 among Democrats, from 5.25 to 5.45 among Republicans and from 3.68 to 3.85 among Independents.

Here is the raw data. 81% of Republicans and 56% of independents concluded that the speech will help her image and 78% of Republicans and 54% of independents concluded that the speech will help her in a potential presidential run.

In Going Rogue, she really "grabbed me" when , as a little girl, she crashed and burned after trying to fly, picked herself up and said, "Well, that didn't work!" -- and went on about her business.

You can usually trust a person who is frank and honest with themselves to treat you the same...

I’d like to read some position papers from her though, rather than anecdotal writings.

I understand what you are saying. I am behind her all the way, just based on what I have seen of her so far; my woman’s intuition tells me she is the real deal. She seems like she is quite capable of making the important decisions that a president — with the exception of the Dear Leader — is forced to make. What she does not know about foreign policy, she will, I am confident, set about learning. And I am convinced that she will have the wisdom to surround herself with experience, sharp people.

But I know that there are people who fell like you do. My husband is one of them. He will say that she just is not ready. I think part of it is that she is just such a beautiful woman that he cannot picture her taking the reins in a forceful and convincing fashion. He denies this, but I think he just isn’t aware of his own attitude on a conscious level. If he could see her lay out her positions in a debate, I just know his attitude would change, though.

Been there in the 70’s.

Very beautiful and competent and the difficulty getting people to see past appearance.

I’m very happy to be old and wrinkly and just decrepit. It makes it so much easier to get my points across.

Of course now, I’m just called a B**tch, or old witch.

While they are not “position papers,” per se, Gov. Palin’s books, especially “The Faith and Values of Sarah Palin,” offer some good insights as to who and what she is. I believe that some of her commentaries, Facebook “thought pieces,” tweets, and the like, do this as well. They are intellectually, factually and philosophically substantive, and clear.

"If he could see her lay out her positions in a debate, I just know his attitude would change, though."

Does he, or will he, read?? If so, buy or borrow a copy of her second book and hand it to him. If he still believes "she's not ready" after reading it, then there's probably no hope for him.

Thanks for the advice. BTW, if she is the nominee, he will definitely vote for her.

He is a reader, but it’s only for practical information. Most of his reading is on financial matters, followed by boat maintenance and house repairs. He will not slog through a political book, as he is a bottom-line kind of guy.

I have not read her second book yet. I read the first, and it gave me a glimpse into her personal struggles, but, if I was not already in her camp — She had me the first time I ever heard her speak, when McCain introduced her to the public — I don’t see how it could have won me over. I will read the second book first and then judge if he would be convinced by it. I hope it is as short as the first.

The second book is about the same length as the first, but is far "denser" in what Palin is all about. Anybody who is at all conservative who reads it, will, IMO, be vastly impressed with how she "gets it" about the United States. The first section is about her understanding of, and love for, our Constitution. And again, IMO, the second book is far better than the first, which was outstanding.
