From Tritter: Michael Steele drops out of RNC chair race, saying: "It's very clear that the party wants to do something different." - NBC
Story developing....
"You had right it the first time."
But they’re not, and neither is the media. If we were going to replace Steele, we should have done it with a dynamic, media savvy conservative. I don’t see that in any of the alternates; most of them sound like a bunch of lifeless toads. This isn’t a government policy position, it’s an entirely political one, and politics is in no small part imagery.
Priebus - 80 (+13)
Anuzis - 37 (+5)
Cino - 34 (-6)
Wagner- 17 (-11)
I agree. Maybe I will restart my contributions, now.
85 to win ... think Priebus prevails, a deal with Wagner would put him over the top ...
“How many rounds do they have? Do they keep voting until someone reaches the Majic number of 80?”
Until the white (red?) smoke comes from the building’s chimney.
Michael Steele was different...so it looks as if the establishment RNC is back in business.
On March 4, 2009, Politico reported that “key party leaders are worried that the GOP has made a costly mistake” in electing Steele. They cited his leadership dispute with Limbaugh; a willingness to support other Republicans in primaries against the three Republican senators (Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Arlen Specter) who voted in favor of the stimulus package; an offering of “some slum love” to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, his calling civil unions “crazy”; his common usage of hip hop slang; and reaching out to “one-armed midgets”.[56] Ada Fisher, “one of a handful of black Republican National Committee members and a persistent critic of Mr. Steele’s, called on him to resign, arguing in an e-mail message to the entire committee that he ‘makes us frankly appear to many blacks as quite foolish’”, according to The New York Times on March 7, 2009. The article nonetheless concluded that “a mass revolt by members ... so far seems unlikely.”
He also coined the phrase: “Drill Baby, Drill”

So many posts on FR and not many facts - e.g. Michael Steele is not from Wisconsin - he is from Maryland.
I had really high hopes for Steele. It is sad that he was such a disappointment. I remember hearing him make appearances on Laura Ingraham and was rather impressed with his conservative bonafides. I guess it was all just an act.
Thanks for the ping.

ANNNND... Wagner is now out, Priebus likely clears 85 easily on the 7th ballot ...
AMEN!!
This truly a Blessed Day for the Republican Party and for America!!
Yep, I think you’re right.
Great picture. Exact quote: “Well . . . . Bye!” BTW, almost got to meet PB at a Friends of Abe event last summer, but got intercepted by Jon Voight :)
Although I think Boss Hog Barbour has zero chances at winning the Whiteyhouse, he does have some keen political savy. His pick of Priebus adds to Priebus and not to mention his GOP tsunami in the landocheese.
Unless the bigdogs @ RNC pulled a neat rope-a-dope by backing Cino, Priebus may be worth a try.
Worse
So, has Prius won yet?
Republics still need to learn how to be winners ~ this is not part of the process.
Now lets see if the stupid party can get someone competent this time. Probably not.
