They did have a “minister” there... that he pounded drums while praying to the four corners, and whatnot is the clue. Everything else was part of an entertainment venue... for the yoots... the families of the victims were included only so they could say it was a memorial.
Meanwhile, WH ops handed out theme tee-shirts, as pundits prepared fodder for fools who watch and listen to them expecting brilliant insights which to use the next day to prove some silly point or other to their friends.
For the yoots, it was a 2012 campaign rally, an early induction into the putative Civilian Defense Force, a chance to see the hero of the people in person.
It was only a memorial in the minds of the TV viewer, the easily fooled. The Media, the DNC, and the WH knew it for what it was: an opportunity to say nothing while appearing to be something else - which could be spun in directions favorable to maintaining the status quo.
And that point explains Fox's turning left ward. This is the time of the left; the Tea Party et al are a threat, and so must be influenced back to the left.
Brit Hume was compromised long ago. The only thing Fox now has over the other cable news outlets is: it is less virulent in its condemnation of conservatives and unwashed Americans.

Has Charles K gotten remarried recently? Many conservative men marry young liberal women and then they start turning their heads from their conservative values.
This has happened to Ted Olson and John McLaughlin. I pray this doesn’t happen to Rush.
Also I think Rupert Murdoch sent out a blast email saying “You must praise Obama’s speech tonight. We are trying to get an interview and debate. Don’t criticize no matter how phoney it is”. Even Hannity was praising it last night.
Plus there are still a couple of conservatives. Kelly, Gillfoyle, and some guests..
