Obama Speech Line Lifted from a Letter from Lincoln
Various ^ | Nov. 21, 1864 | Abraham Lincoln

Posted on 01/13/2011 7:53:56 AM PST by JohnBrowdie

the obamites are always lifting lines from Lincoln. they are quite obsessed with him. tell me that he didn't crib this line:

Obama last night : "There is nothing I can say that will fill the hole in your hearts, but I know this: the hopes of nation are here with you."

Lincoln's letter to Mrs. Lydia Bixby : I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

Lincoln was renowned for his gift of rhetoric.

And that was a positive thing, not a slur.

"There is nothing I can say that will fill the hole in your hearts."

Oh, yes there is.

Today, I resign the Presidency of the United States.

I don’t know how you could re-write Lincoln’s statement into today’s “lingo” and not make it fit, hand-in-glove, with Obama’s line you quoted.

It kind of goes along with my assertion that no liberal has had an original thought in the past two centuries...

Odumbo actually said this line. He doesnt give a rip about anyone except himself. It was just another photo op for him, and probably got PO’d that he missed another golf game.

Heh, Obama never refers to this country as a Republic. I notice Lincoln did.

That’s hardly what I’d term ‘lifting’ the line. Beyond the overall sentiment expressed, I don’t see any similarity at all between the two.

I thought it shameful all those people applauding at a memorial service.

uncle! uncle! lol. I will take everyone’s word for it that I am imagining things. I have imagined similar things in Obama Speeches in the past, but I think I will wait for my head to grow back before I post them. heh.

Still, it wasn’t an original idea.
