President Barack Obama mourned victims of the Tucson shooting spree Wednesday and urged Americans not to let a political debate over the tragedy be used as "one more occasion to turn on one another."
In a speech at a service for those killed in a weekend massacre that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords gravely wounded, the president appealed for national unity and soul-searching after the shootings. He urged Americans to "expand our moral imaginations" and "sharpen our instincts for empathy" — even with those who are political adversaries.
"I believe we can be better," Obama said to a capacity crowd at the University of Arizona basketball arena — and to countless others watching across America. "Those who died here, those who saved lives here — they help me believe. We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us."

What's this "we" stuff? I didn't shoot anybody in Tucson. I didn't cause a madman to go nuts and shoot a judge. It wasn't me that didn't put a lunitic in jail because he was crazy, it wasn't me that didn't turn in 120,000 mentally ill cases to the national gun database to keep a looney from "legally" buying a gun.

We need more oof it, not just because the cause of conservatism is almost always victorious in debate, but it throws of the cowl of liberal fascist lock step statism. IMHO, even though the president stated that the political rhetoric did not cause the shooting, the left has still gotten what they wanted.
This discussion is now on the table, when it shouldn’t be. Passionate, and sometimes over-the-top discourse is now firmly connected in the people’s minds with these diabolical attacks.
The left will now lead the way in trying to control speech. Rahm Emmanual should be so proud of what has unfolded here.

What are moral imaginations? Is that where you imagine something immoral is actually moral? That would explain a lot.
